Student ambassador programs allow students to become active leaders on their college campus by serving and representing their school. Being a student ambassador is a great opportunity for students to grow as individuals because it strengthens skills that apply to the real world.

Student ambassadors are not just tour guides on college campuses. They give off the first impression to prospective students which is definitely a big deal because it weighs heavily on the final decision made by the prospective students. If a student ambassador succeeds in making visitors feel comfortable and welcomed, then they have fulfilled their main responsibility.

By the end of my sophomore year of college, I knew that I wanted to get more involved on campus and meet new people. I always noticed student ambassadors giving tours and knew that the ambassador program was something that I wanted to be a part of. I decided to go through the interview process and ended up getting a position which I was very excited about.

Although I was nervous and had to force myself out of my comfort zone, I was eager to strengthen my public speaking skills, to become a more confident individual, and to learn more about my school. I knew that the ambassador program was the perfect opportunity to do so.

After going through training week and eventually going out on tour, I have realized the significance, meaning, and the honor that is attached to the position of a student ambassador. When families come to visit my school, it is my responsibility to provide them with information regarding classes, residence halls, athletics, and student life and much more, but being an ambassador is so much more than that.

I can spit out all of the facts about my school, but I need to prove to these families that the community is so loving, welcoming, and accepting. I need to share my personal experiences with them… I need to tell them my story, why I fell in love with my school and why I decided to make it my second home.

There is nothing more rewarding than having families compliment you after tours, telling you that you did a great job and that they really enjoyed you as their tour guide. I love hearing these kind words because they remind me why I became a student ambassador and that my hard work is being acknowledged.

I am so excited and proud to be a student ambassador and I am looking forward to the experiences that lie ahead. I have learned the importance of teamwork and patience. I have learned how to handle the situation with the utmost professionalism. I have learned how to connect and be more personable with others. These valuable lessons will stay with me as I transition into the real world after graduation. There is still so much room for me to improve, and I think that that is the most exciting aspect of it all.

I am so thankful for this opportunity that was presented to me and I’m so glad that I am using it to the best of my advantage.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
