I wrote this poem in responses to the song "Slowtown" by Twenty-One Pilots. The italicized words are lyrics from the song itself. I changed it up so that I have a line of the lyrics followed by a made-up line by me so that it sounds a bit like an original poem. It was a bit difficult with what the lyrics are, but I think it turned out pretty good.
Slowtown
I put my socks
And shoes
On my feet
Like normal.
Just so that my soul won't
Fade away or
Fall through my toes
My day goes on
And I walk
Alone right
through my door.
I think it's
Just so I don't
Make mistakes and
fall through the floor
Like you did.
