With summer on the horizon many people have gotten a head start on curating the perfect playlist to either make the journey back home or to simply get into the spirt of summer. Their purpose is to set a mood, usually with catchy pop lyrics and sweet instrumentals that give us the feeling of driving through a desert in a convertible.

Instead of summer, I want to emulate something else I love, creating art. Personally, I feel most creative when I am in a certain state of mind so I've decided to transpose those feelings into a playlist to hopefully inspire creativity. These songs are all from my personal collection, and are everything from legendary pop songs to deep cuts from my personal favorites. With that, here are some vibes from me to you, to get down with everything from painting the next "Starry Night," to messing around with a coloring book and some markers.

1. "Back to Black" -- Amy Winehouse.

The entire album is a personal favorite to get down to business to, but this song in particular is so filled with body and soul that it stood out. Winehouse's signature voice and style are on full display here and I love it dearly.

2. "What the Water Gave Me" -- Florence + the Machine.

Florence Welch is quite literally a breath of fresh air, with her pure vocals and simple classical instrumentals. This song makes me think of dipping my feet into a spring, so add this to your summer playlist too.

3. "Party" -- Beyonce.

I could not resist putting a Beyonce song in, but is anyone going to blame me for that. Four is filled with jazz influences that work wonders on creativity in progress.

4. "Heartbeat" -- JJAMZ (now PHASES).

This song and band are probably one of the more underrated acts on the list. Z Berg, lead singer of PHASES, is an incredible indie singer who has a more extensive catalog with her other band The Like. Heartbeat is a glistening pop song that touches on many serious themes, making it the perfect choice to get those creative juices flowing.

Content warning: The video is themed around a kidnapping.

5. "The Man Who Sold The World" -- David Bowie.

I doubt anyone could make an acceptable list about art without including something by David Bowie; it would be a disgrace to an incredible legacy. Besides that fact, this song is likely my favorite Bowie song of all (if I absolutely had to pick just one), on top of that the guitar has a twang to it that I cannot get out of my head, in the best way.

6. "Cool Kids" -- Echosmith.

I've probably heard this song at least 100 times at this point but it never gets old. With just the right fusion of indie inspiration and teenage angst that any of us can relate to to this day, it's no wonder I want this buzzing in my eardrum.

7. "National Anthem" -- Lana Del Rey.

If the indie and classical vibes were not clear enough already then Lana Del Rey is perhaps the expert at fusing the two for a modern audience. This song fulfills the fantasy we have all had of living in opulence, and with the groove along with it could certainly inspire a plethora of interpretive dances.

8. "Do I Wanna Know" -- Arctic Monkeys.

The idea of being a Greaser has never felt so cool as it does listening to this song. With dirty guitar riffs and smooth vocals I cannot imagine someone not bopping their head along while thinking of their own lyrics.

9. "Light a Roman Candle with Me" -- Fun.

A beyond-adorable song by the band that almost everyone can agree on when shuffling through the radio. This love song utilizes pianos and horns to set the mood of a first date, which I'm sure inspires many feelings in all of us.

10. "The Fighter" -- Gym Class Heroes.

This a super-uplifting one, that would certainly help an artist who is down in the dumps or unsure of their ideas. At the end of the day, we are all fighting against something and more often than not, we turn to art to cope and find our strength.

11. "New Americana" -- Halsey.

Quite honestly, this is the closest thing to a millennial anthem I have ever found and I frickin' love it. Halsey is an artist we can all connect to in some way, and that's the magic, that's what makes her music so good and inspiring.

12. "Visitation of the Ghost" -- The Brobecks.

Oh my, if you do not know this band I beg you to check them out. Complete with a groovy bass
line and some beautiful album art, anything off of Violet Things could spark the fire in one's brain but this song has the added bonus of a church choir during the bridge.

13. "Young Volcanoes" -- Fall Out Boy.

I had to include my favorite band, but in all seriousness this song is great for both creativity and summer vibes. This song is bubbly and catchy and is all around a feel good song worthy of a painting.

Content warning: The video has a minor amount of gore.

14. "Boyfriend" -- Best Coast.

Sweetly simplistic, this song will take anyone back to the days of writing about their first crush in a diary with a heart-shaped lock on it. The music is melodic enough to make the most staunch music critic tap their foot.

15. "SING" -- My Chemical Romance.

"SING" is for those who feel like they are being silenced, and artists can get that a lot, especially amateurs like yours truly. Despite that we have to push because we need to see what tomorrow brings.

16. "No Reflection" -- Marilyn Manson.

Marilyn Manson is one of those artists I listen to a lot when I need a creative boost, the amount of imagery present in his music videos is stunning and if you are not faint of heart, I would highly recommend checking them out as well. The raspy vocals and guitar draws you in, and creates its own world around you.

17. "Immortal" -- Marina & The Diamonds.

Many of us have felt this way before, the inevitability of death is a popular topic but coupled with the struggle of wanting to be remembered that comes a lot with doing art, because we all want to make an impact, this song hits home while giving the inspiration to create.

18. "Modern Girl" -- Sleater-Kinney.

Songs that go a lot deeper than they may seem are some of the best to spark creativity for me because interpreting them can get you to many different places. The simplicity of both the music and the lyrics makes them feel almost plastic, but it's plastic with a purpose.

19. "The Ballad of Mona Lisa" -- Panic! at the Disco.

This song was quite literally everywhere several years ago, and the haunting music and lyrics keep me listening to this day. With an eerie video to accompany a listen to this the perfect cure for a poet suffering writer's block.

20. "Run Fast" -- The Julie Ruin.

This song does a beautiful job of putting life into perspective, how everything that has happened to us, the good and certainly the bad, has a driving force in who we are today. It's about overcoming obstacles, many of them, and showing the world that we are here for good, and that is the sort of statement every artist, and everyone else needs to make at some point.

21. "Tennis Court" -- Lorde.

Everyone has heard "Tennis Court" by now, but the beauty of it continues. The simplicity in the background really brings Lorde's vocals out in full force, which she handles with expertise. Her rise to fame is catalogued throughout "Pure Heroine" and each song can give hope to a struggling artist.

22. "Bird Set Free" -- Sia.

Realizing that you are in control over your life and that the pressure of the public is meaningless is a breakthrough for many. To go beyond how society views you and to live for yourself is a very important lesson for everyone, but especially the artist.

23. "Heaven Tonight" -- Hole.

Happiness can be hard to come by in a world full of tortured artists (guilty as charged); however frontwoman Courtney Love brings her unique rasp to the struggle of pursuing the happiness she seeks, and at times does not. It reminds us that while happiness is not always an easy road, the pursuit itself can be beautiful and worthy of its own spot.

24. "Milk and Cookies" -- Melanie Martinez.

Martinez's imaginative style and intricate persona make her the perfect subject for an artist inspiration list. From her fashion to the music her quirky, childhood inspired vibe, coupled with the wisdom of adulthood make her music both sweet and substantial and could give an artist many ideas.

25. "With David Bowie" -- Veruca Salt.

It would only be appropriate to close out this list with a song about David Bowie. The joys of being an adoring fan are endless (trust me, I would know). Those butterflies in your stomach can be a source for your own inspiration too, after all, our favorite artists have felt that way about something, it's what keeps them inspired.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
