It may be a little early in the season, but the way the Patriots have been playing so far (amazing), and the way the rest of the way the NFL has been playing (mediocre), the Patriots have one of the best chances in recent years to be undefeated again. We all know what happened the last time the Patriots went undefeated: they lost in a heartbreaking game to the Giants in the Super Bowl. Last year, the Patriots finally made up for that season by winning the Super Bowl for the first time in a decade. Of course, it was easy in 2007 to go 16-0 with the combination of Tom Brady and Randy Moss, but this year with multiple solid receivers like Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski, it could be even easier.
In a month that Tom Brady was supposed to miss due to a suspension, he earned the title of AFC Offensive Player of The Month, and his stats are shaping up to be better than those of 2007. Tom Brady's stats are better than any other quarterback in almost every column through the first few weeks. Injuries have been plaguing several other quarterbacks, but Tom Brady is looking as healthy as ever even at the age of 38. Most quarterbacks only have one strong receiver to whom to throw; Tom Brady has an entire core of them. He has been foreshadowing his third MVP season and his fifth Super Bowl ring.
The Patriots also have a very easy schedule coming ahead for the rest of the year. There really aren't any Super Bowl contenders the Patriots will be playing for the rest of the season. The Denver Broncos so far have the best record on the Patriots' schedule, but with an old, confused man running that team at quarterback they should fall apart soon. So far, the Patriots haven't been just winning; they've been dominating any competition that comes their way. No other team in football right now has been playing the way the Patriots have. The Patriots could really just start resting Brady for the Super Bowl and have Jimmy Garoppolo play, and they might still be able to record a zero in the loss column.
The only team playing similar to the Patriots right now are the Cardinals, and the only way New England will see them is in Super Bowl 50. Other than the Cardinals, no other team in the NFL can even come close to touching New England's level of playing.
Not only can the Patriots repeat their undefeated season from 2007, they can finally finish it and cap it off with a Super Bowl win. In a little over four months from now we'll be talking about how the 2015 Patriots are the greatest team in NFL history and how Tom Brady is with no doubt the best quarterback to ever set foot on a field. I really hope I'm not jinxing anything.
