Dear Younger Me,
Hey! This feels a little weird writing this but here goes nothing. You’re currently sitting in your dorm room writing this a couple hours before its due. Typical. You thought that once you got to college your procrastination would stop…nope, still just as bad as high school. You may not know it but your whole life is completely different than what you thought it’d be (it’s for the best don’t worry). I guarantee you this life is so much better than what you imagine.
Remember your dreams to become either an MLB Player or NASCAR driver? Doesn’t happen. You actually end up stop racing at age 10 to play baseball, and you’re actually pretty good at it. You continue it throughout high school, and eventually play club in college. Your major has completely changed, you don’t want to be a math major anymore (God, why did I even want to do that haha), you’re majoring in Marketing now. You end up going to Elon University in North Carolina, and have the mindset of living down south after you graduate. You don’t know it yet, but this is probably the best decision of your life so far. You need this time away from home; you have to find yourself.
Eventually you’re going to find out that mom and dad don’t stay together, and it’s going to be rough for you for a little. But push through like you have been doing since you were born, you can do this. Guide Brian and Anthony through it, especially Ant, he needs it the most. You’ll find that baseball is an escape from everything and you’ll meet some of your best friends from it. You’ll have fun going to tournaments and winning almost all of them one year (that team was a blast, don’t take it for granted).
In high school, you’re going to realize that you have a passion for writing even though you used to hate it. You write for your school paper for two years, and eventually get to college and write for The Odyssey. You then get to college and realize you’re going to minor in communications, who would’ve thought.
There’s going to be a rough patch in your life during freshman and sophomore year of high school, but don’t give up, you’ll get through it I promise. During this you’re going to meet your soulmate, and she’s going to help you get through it. She’s going to make you the happiest person alive, and is always trying everything to make sure you’re happy. A day won’t go by where you don’t have a smile on it I promise. She’s going to college a year before you, and it’s going to be so hard, but it’s going to make your relationship stronger. You’re going to realize that you can’t live without her and will do anything to stay together. She’s perfect for you, don’t lose her.
Lastly, take advantage of everything. Say yes to almost everything. Don’t miss out on things, you’ll regret it in the future.
You’re going to do great things in life, don’t forget that. You can do anything you set your mind to.
Sincerely,
18 year old you
