Whenever you start college your freshman year, most people, if not all people, meet that one person who they will call their best friend and who will remain their best friend forever. My best friend happens to be switching schools next year, but that does not change the fact that she is simply and truly my best friend. Freshman year was quite the adventure, and I couldn't have done it without her by my side, so here's a few things I'd like to thank her for.
***WARNING: Long list of Thank Yous Below.***
Dear Toni,
First of all, I would like to thank you for being my very first college friend and the first sorority sister that I became close to. If you're in a sorority, you know what it's like starting out, not knowing anyone, feeling kind of awkward. Yeah, it's a strange situation. Well, surprisingly, that was me, until you came along at the "New Member Retreat" and that one awkward Coke Date we had together. I'm not sure how those events caused us to be friends but somehow God knew we should be friends, and before we knew it, we were pretty much inseparable.
As far as first semester goes, thank you for coming to me in my time of need and awkwardness, and becoming my weird other half. Thank you for being my escape route when times were tough, whether it was roommates, or homework, or the "Freshman 15" creeping up on me, you were there for it all. Thank you for letting me shower in Drummond's sketchy shower after our shaving-cream coke date when Bennett was too far of a walk, and thank you for the clothes you let me borrow afterwards. Thank you for all of the laughter, and for simply just understanding me at all times. You are truly that person who knows me so well that I don't even have to speak, for you to know what's going through my mind.
As second semester rolled around, and we found ourselves moving into the house together as roommates, well, that's when the true bond started. Thank you for late night food runs, staying up late talking about life and our favorite shows, for all of the Snapchat pictures and videos I have of you doing stupid things that crack me up, and for all of the gripes about the people we follow on Facebook, and their stupid posts. Thank you for embracing the Freshman 15 with me and admitting how fat we are, and how much we love food, while slaving away at the Colvin every night that we could, regretting our love for food.
Thank you for jamming to songs with me in my car and singing random words when we didn't know the lyrics. Thank you for going with me to run errands when you were perfectly comfy in your bed, and really didn't want to go. Thank you for being honest with me at all times, not even worrying about how I will react, because you know it's what I needed to hear. Thank you for listening to all of my problems always, even now when I text you just about everyday.
Thank you for accepting my hugs that I love to give to everyone, especially you, when I know you probably get annoyed by them. Thank you for throwing tantrums at your SimNet homework and cracking me up every time. Thank you for taking a billion pictures with me that I know you didn't want to take. On a more serious note, thank you for having a 28-day Snapchat streak with me that is still ongoing as I type this. Thank you for the many "laughing until we cried" moments and for being my complete opposite, but complete twin at the same time.
As I sit here writing this, I realize the list could go on forever because we made so many memories this year, and I know that for the next three years and even the rest of our lives after, it won't be any different. So here's to you, as I have said many times in this letter, my best friend, for always sticking by my side, and for being my partner in crime. As much as I hate that you are leaving OSU, I know God has great plans for you at OU, and I know that we will still be very close. To simply sum up this letter in four words: "Thanks for being Toni." I don't know what I would do on this planet without you.
P.S. Enjoy our very first picture together, which just so happened to be after a Coke Date, and just so happened to be when you had blonde hair.
