To The Girls Who Made Me Love The Sport

Dear Teammates,

Freshman Year

Like every upcoming freshmen I was terrified of upperclassmen, but you made it not so scary. So, thanks for being the coolest upperclassmen I knew/know. You changed the way I saw my future in the sport. You encouraged me, guided me, corrected me, probably judged me, and helped me grow. I cannot thank you enough.

As a team you made me love the sport itself. I had never played before I joined the team and you taught me to love the sport for all that it was. You helped me get passed the frustrating and confusing parts of learning a new sport. You answered my many questions from what to wear to practice to the right way to putt the ball. You encouraged me through the rough practices and the tough ones. You taught me how to swing and how to count the score. Most importantly you planted the seed.

Sophomore Year

A special shoutout to you girls, we went from the smallest team possible to doubling in size. Together we conquered the conference. You all taught me new things about myself and new ways to love the sport. You taught me how to laugh about the hard times and move on from bad rounds. You taught me that when it rains you should dance, not hide. You taught me no matter what is on your mind that once you get on the course your problems become nothing and its your game that really matters.

Together we learned how to play, with four veterans and two newbies (to the team) we bonded like no other. We had long practices and so many hours spent together. We learned each others hobbies, eating habits, love lives. You changed the way I viewed the game itself you made practices, and team lifting something I looked forward to in my day. No matter what the score was I knew I had my team behind my back. I cannot thank you enough for everything you did for me.

Junior Year

To my one and only upperclassmen (so far) I will forever look up to you and learn from you. You have taught me so much already and I look forward to learning so much more from you. To my other teammates, I cannot wait for the many memories we will make this upcoming season and I cannot wait to see all that we can achieve together

To the underclassmen

We're loud, we're annoying and we probably get a little crazy sometimes, that's how we bond. If you're considering joining our family, it could just be the best decision you ever make. We will teach you, we will encourage you, we will correct you, we might judge you, and we will help you grow. We will help you to be the best you can be to our ability and we will answer your many questions. We will find you the perfect role in our family and you will grow with us. We're no where near perfect, but we have each other and that's all we really need.

To the coaches

While you couldn't make me love the sport, you taught it to me. You stuck with me through all my many trials of failure and encouraged me to take the next shot. You told me not to give up on myself and you never did. You couldn't make me love the sport but you gave me a family who made me love the sport. Thank you for creating something that changed my life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
