An Open Letter to the Cast of High School Musical 4

Disney Channel has recently confirmed the plans for High School Musical 4. It's been eight years since "High School Musical 3" was released, and the world has been anxiously awaiting the next East High tale ever since. The new film will feature a new cast of Wildcats and shifts its focus from basketball and singing to football and singing. This could be the greatest thing since "HSM 3" or the worst. The original "HSM" shoes will be hard to fill. So, future Wildcats, if you're reading this, consider this advice.

Don't be offended when the original fan base doesn't love you right away. You have to understand that Troy and Gabriella hold a special place in our hearts. They're the ones who taught us it's okay to be a skater kid who plays the cello on the side, or to be a brainiac with some killer dance moves. The original wildcats told us it's okay to not stick to the status quo, and for that, they will always be remembered.

"HSM 4" may be the "start of something new," but the old songs will always be our favorites. There's just something about breaking free and singing along with Troy and Gabriella that can never be topped. I'm sure your songs will be fun and catchy, but "Getcha Head in the Game" will forever be the best pump up jam around.

Nobody is expecting "HSM 4" to replace the others, mostly because it just can't be done, but there is a lot of pressure out there for it to be great. The new story focuses on Ryan and Sharpay's cousin, a star football player. Even though it's a new cast, and a somewhat new storyline, extending the same title to a remake is dangerous. The films will inevitably be compared in every way. You can bet on it.

So, "HSM 4" cast, you have been given a great responsibility. Please do not underestimate the importance of the task before you. Millions of "HSM" fans are counting on you to preserve the legend that is "High School Musical." We'll all be here supporting you through it all as you bring back our favorite stories of East High. Good luck Wildcats, and remember, we're all in this together.
