We walk around thinking that tomorrow is guaranteed.
That our eyes will open every morning and we can just continue life. We get used to living and forget that every single day that we have been given, is a true blessing.
We take for granted the little things that we are able to do. To drink, eat, talk, see, hear, move, and remember...
One day, after living a healthy and long life, a loved one was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She can no longer remember your name.
Your dad woke up one day with a terrible headache and suddenly, was diagnosed with cancer.
Your sibling is diagnosed with a disease that changes their life forever.
A loved one gets into a car accident and ends up with lifelong damage and many injuries.
A friend got diagnosed with a debilitating disease that inhibits their movement.
Someone you love passes away after fighting and battling for their life.
Do you think they thought this was going to happen to them?
We all think that that can't possibly happen to us...but it can happen to anyone.
We go on a run and complain because we are out of breath. Imagine what someone in a wheel chair would do to get up and walk just one last time. Or someone who is batting lung cancer would do to take a clear breath just one more time. We hate having to get up early for obligations when some people don't even wake up..
We sit and dwell on something that isn't literally taking our life. Some people are fighting for their life. They are sitting there trying to take a breath. Suddenly, that becomes the hardest thing to do. To breathe in and out. To literally live. And we are taking advantage of that?
We forget that some people can't do these things. While we are sitting here taking advantage of the blessing that we have to be healthy and here. Life changes in a blink of an eye. Appreciate the world and people around you. The journey of life has twists and turns that are not anticipated and some roads are shorter than others. Tell your loved ones how much they mean to you.. and appreciate the fact that you're breathing and here.
Life isn't guaranteed for anyone. Make the most of the time you have been given and do something to change the world and lives of those around you.
Why do we wait until someone is dying before we tell them how much they mean to us?
I love you.
"As you waste your breath complaining about life, someone out there is battling for their last breath. Appreciate what you have."
