Olympic Events That Should Exist

After four long years, the Olympics are finally back! I know that two years ago we were graced with the Winter Olympics at Sochi, but let's be honest, Summer Olympics always top Winter. Summer has gymnastics, swimming, diving, archery, and a reminder that summer is still here While I am not the biggest sports fan out there, I do enjoy the Summer Olympics. I like the opening ceremony, gymnastics, swimming, and the ability to learn and see another country from the comfort of my own home. A lot of the events in the Olympics are typical of what one would expect from an athletic tournament. Swimming, basketball, soccer, and gymnastics are staples. But, there are some events that stick out, like table tennis, crew, and horseback riding. They're not exactly sports you played as a kid, unless you grew up with a large bank account. Thinking about all of the different events happening at the 2016 Rio Olympics, I like to think about some other potential events.

1. Race to the Remote

A race we all know too well. Who will get the remote first, you, or your little sister? Will you be watching "Jeopardy!", or reruns of "Parks and Recreation," or "Little People, Big World," and "Kate Plus 8"? Speed and agility are everything in this fight to the death.

2. Laundry Avoidance Showdown

Who can go without clean clothes the longest? Who can blissfully ignore the growing amount of ketchup stains on their shirts? Most importantly, who can make their clean underwear stretch the longest? This event is not for the faint of heart.

3. TV Binge-Watch Championship

It's 2016 and binge-watching is king. Are you able to watch the entire new season of "Orange is the New Black" in one day? Or, if you're feeling bold, take on a show that has been on for years, like "The Office" with nine seasons. Bloodshot eyes and the number of times you drink caffeine are taken into account.

4. Lip Sync Sing-Off

It's the down-graded version of Spike's "Lip Sync Battle"! Instead of LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen hosting a battle between glamorous celebrities, it's you and Cousin Janet seeing who can lip sync the best to Aqua's "Barbie Girl". Of course the music is played on the old CD player that you got for your 7th birthday. The real challenge is seeing who can still perform with poise while the CD constantly skips.

5. Annoying Questions Challenge

I feel as if there are a couple of standard questions that I'm constantly asked. "When are you going to get a job?", "Do you have a boyfriend?", "What are you going to do for the rest of your life?" I get bombarded with questions of this nature every family birthday, holiday, gathering, funeral, what have you. So I propose an Olympic event to see who can take the most annoying questions. First person to crack under pressure and grab a glass of wine is the loser. If you can win this challenge, then you're a champion of everything else.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
