Notes from The First to Worst Bracket Challenge Guy

We all have been or know the one guy who starts strong in the round of 64 yet ends at that bottom of their tourny's bracket challenge group. Here are the notes of that person...

March 18th: Yes! Its that time again! The brackets are set and there is no way I could lose this year!, especially since i have a bunch of complete Sports idiots in my bracket challenge group. Kentucky is almost a sure bet for the final four. Wisconsin and Duke look strong too. That East bracket is a tough call this year. Cant wait for tomorrows games!

March 20th: Well Round of 64 is over. Surprise, Surprise Baylor lost on a last second 3 to Georgia St. Well at least the bracket wasn't hurt that bad. Iowa St lost to UAB!!! That was a serious punch in the gut. I had the Cyclones in the elite 8! Cant believe someone guessed that one. What a lucky guess. That's okay though, sitting in the top spot at the moment. Iowa St hurt but the future looks bright.

March 22: NCSU was on my hate list before this round but they have officially earned a brand new spot. Not only did they beat LSU they just shocked Villanova by 3. I'm not gonna hear the end of Louisville's win over Northern Iowa either. Another Elite 8 and my first final 4 team fell tonight. I really liked UVA but that hurt worse then the ISU loss. The vision of the money in my fat wallet after this became a little dimmer. Can't believe this. I'm still in first but second is catching up fast. There's no way Michigan State advances past Oklahoma in the Sweet Sixteen. Only empty spaces in the sweet sixteen, I'm feeling confident.

March 27th: The Sweet 16 was chalk. The only surprise was Michigan State over Oklahoma. They continue to surprise me every game. I'm chalking up this round as a win. The lead grew slightly, no embarrassment or loss of cash for me. How should I spend the winnings? Maybe a nice steak dinner?

March 29th: Okay I'm lost...Not only did Arizona lose to Wisconsin but Michigan State won AGAIN! This is looking bleak, 50% of my final 4 teams are out and its gonna take a miracle to win this. But hey, the Super Bowl was won in one play so maybe I can win my bracket on one game. The lead is starting to fade into the darkness but hey! I'm still in a podium spot! But second place doesn't give me a nice juicy steak... or end the misery of the continuous nonsense I'm gonna hear... I told them I'm the best around but how is this gonna look?

April 4th: Well that's it. In the course of the Sweet 16 to the final 4, I have lost the lead, fallen into dead last, almost surely lost all the money, and been ridiculed by everyone. I talked so much going into the tourny and now I look like a idiot. But I wont quit! But god it's gonna suck having to use my own money on that steak...well it's either steak or food for the week....

April 5th: Any light or glimmer of hope I had has been eliminated. I have fallen from first to worst among a bunch of idiots. How could the best sports mind in this group not only not win but finish dead last? The torture I'm gonna hear from these baboons is gonna be unbearable.

April 6th: Well it's over. 1 year of absolute misery or until I can once again regain my rightful crown as the head sportsman of this group...At least the baseball season is starting, time to start getting my money back through 162 games of American Pastime.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
