Notes To Self:

Some of the things I need to remember to live as best I can.

Notes To Self:

If I could have sticky notes in my brain, here's what some of them would say. These are things I wish I could remind myself of on a regular basis. On any given day, you can usually find one of these things or something similar scrawled across my wrist or hand in ballpoint ink in an effort to do just that.

1. Say "no" to things that will be too much.

2. Don't watch cute movies when you're already sad!

3. Also, don't look at Pinterest wedding boards.

4. Mocha freezes from Costco always make you feel better.

5. Text Mom and Dad once in a while.

6. Call your grandparents once in a while.

7. Your friends love you and will understand if you need to withdraw for a bit to get your homework done.

8. Knowing that, go get your homework done.

9. "May each word from my lips be a song of good news, / Every touch of my hand be a gift of grace, / Every beat of my heart be a prayer to you, / And the sum of my days be a life of praise."

10. "Every day an opportunity." What will you do with today's opportunities?

11. Don't be a bad roommate. Do your laundry, take out the trash, wash your sheets.

12. You don't know what's going on in that person's life, so always give them the benefit of the doubt.

13. Before you speak, think about what you're about to say. Then think again. Then think again. Then speak, if it's still relevant to the conversation.

14. When it comes to helping people, don't just go halfway; give them everything you've got.

15. There are so many people who love you.

16. You can get through anything. You will keep breathing and your heart will keep beating for a long time.

17. Please remember to eat all your meals.

18. You are not defined by your successes or failures. You choose how to define yourself.

19. You have decided to define yourself by the good that you do. Now do some good.

20. "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you."

Isaiah 43:1-2

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
