Coming into the 2015 season of the NFL, there are many teams that are clear favorites and some that may have a new coach or quarterback that are looking for success. There are also teams looking for another shot such as the Seattle Seahawks who were just a few yards away from winning their second Super Bowl title in a row. Then there's the New England Patriots who won the Super Bowl, but offseason allegations said they deflated balls in the Playoffs against the Baltimore Ravens. Now, the Indianapolis Colts have their quarterback Tom Brady suspended for the first four games of the year as well as a new team waiting to prove to the rest of the world that they can win again and do not have to cheat. Overall this season has many unanswered questions and teams that are waiting to prove themselves worthy of being a contender.
Going into the 2015 season, there are several favorites. For starters there are the usual names that are atop of everyone's picks to win a Super Bowl. The Green Bay Packers led by Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews and Jordy Nelson may be the overall favorites, but right behind them are teams that have gotten a lot better the past years including the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have gotten one step further ever since having Andrew Luck start at quarterback four years ago. Now a seasoned veteran, Luck and the Colts, who added a couple other impressive veterans including Frank Gore and Andre Johnson, have everyone talking in Indianapolis that this is a Super Bowl or bust year. However, if the Colts are going to go to the Super Bowl, they must beat the Patriots, who seemed to have the Colts' number in the past years, including the last beating the Colts each of the last two years in the Playoffs.
Following the Colts and the Patriots, there is a list of other teams that are thinking 2015 is their year as well. These include like I previously talked about the Seattle Seahawks who teams fear playing especially when they are home because of how loud the crowd can get. Other teams looking to have breakout year include the Seahawks division rival the Arizona Cardinals who have a good defense and just need their quarterback to stay healthy. The Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys also signed arguably their top two players to long term deals and with that done, expect them to both have break out years and lead them to championships.
While there are teams that are close, there are also teams that are trying something new and hope it pays off. The Buffalo Bills had a big offseason in free-agency and hope that the hire of Rex Ryan as their new head coach will help lead them to an appearance in the Playoffs for the first time since the 1990's. The Tennessee Titans are also another team with lots of questions with drafting Oregon's Quarterback Marcus Mariota, and think that he can be the franchise quarterback that they have been looking for ever since Steve McNair.
Overall, this should be an interesting NFL season filled with a lot of surprises and dreams of teams lifting the Lombardi Trophy in San Francisco early next year.
