New Years Resolutions For The Soul

Every year, we all hear the same New Years resolutions from all of the people around us. Usually they are one of the following: eating healthy, working out more, saving money and the list goes on. I think it's time that we stop worrying about materials and physical appearances and begin working on bettering our souls. Who's with me?! Here are some things that you should start doing during the new year to ensure a happy mind and soul;

Think positive.

As cliche as it might sound, it's true. Why on earth think negative when you have the option to think positive?! Things don't always work out the way we want them to, but that's the beauty in life. Everything amounts to something good in the end. Realizing that early on is key. Positivity is key.

Visualize your ultimate goals.

I am a firm believer that you can obtain any of your goals as long as your work for them and believe that it will happen. Visualizing our goals every single day does nothing less than attract it right into your life. Does it happen over night? Absolutely not. But it begins with the mindset that you will achieve what you're striving for. Want to learn more about it? Watch or read "The Secret". It's life changing, and it really works.

Be confident.

Confidence seems to be something that a lot of people want. Well, what's stopping you?! It takes a mindset and maybe some new lipstick to tell the world that you've got life on lockdown.

Be grateful.

The cards we are dealt are the cards we are dealt. This is why seeing every experience as an opportunity to grow is so important. In the long run, it will help you and further your life story. Trust me!

Be mindful.

Being mindful of yourself and the things that happen to you is something that will change your life. Be mindful of how you react to things that aren't ideal, or to negative situations. There's so much that is out of your control, so why dwell? Being mindful of the people around us is just as important, if not more important. Look out for the people around you, we're all humans. We might as well help each other out, right?

Communicate with yourself.

Before you think I'm truly insane, hear me out.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
