If you are born somewhere between the years of 1986 and 1996 you should be in your 20s. This is the age where you really become a true adult. For some you are just graduating college, starting your first job, maybe getting engaged or even married, and thinking or having your first child. It’s a scary and exciting time in your life. Although you are far from being old, here are some things that will definitely make you FEEL old.

1. DVD

Digital Video Discs or DVDs were invented in the year 1995. DVD players are now found in almost every home in the United States today.

2. iTunes

iTunes is a media player and library developed by Apple. It was invented in 2001.

3. YouTube

This video-sharing site was founded in 2005.

4. Satellite Radio

Satellite Radio came around in 1990.

5. GPS

It wasn’t until 1995 that GPS or Global Positioning System was sold to the public. Before GPS, to get somewhere you would need a physical map.

6. Animal Kingdom

The parks at Disney World in Orlando, Florida are such a blast to go visit. Animal Kingdom was one of the last to be built…. in 1998.

7. Digital Answering Machine

This came out in 1991.

8. Euros

This form of pay was introduced to the world in 1999. It is now used in countries such as England, France, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, and Italy.

9. Disney's "Beauty and the Beast"

This Disney movie was release in 1991.

10. Facebook

Facebook is one of the biggest social networking conglomerates and was invented in 2004.

11. Text Messaging

The first text sent was in 1992.

12. Verizon

Verizon only started about 16 years ago and now it is the largest wireless communications service provider in the U.S.

13. Food Network

This American basic cable and satellite television channel started back in 1993. It's now one of the biggest stations on television! This station features shows such as "Chopped," "Diners Drive-Ins and Dives," "Cutthroat Kitchen," "Cupcake Wars," "Iron Chef," "Worst Cooks In America," and many more.

14. Ebay

Ebay was founded in 1995. It is an American corporation that provides consumer-to-consumer as well as business-to-business services through the Internet.

15. Segway

This two-wheeled, electric scooter came around in 1994. It was first introduced to the public in 2001 and was featured on an episode of ABC’s Good Morning America.

16. WWW

The World Wide Web was brought to the public almost 20 years ago.

17. iPods

iPods came out in 2001.

18. Airport terminals for passengers only

You didn't need a boarding pass to go into an airport terminal before September 2001. Unfortunately, this reason was brought about by a tragedy.

19. JetBlue

JetBlue is an American airline that was founded in 1998. Today it is one of the most popular airlines to travel with.

20. Google

Google was invented in 1998. Can you believe you are older than GOOGLE? It feels like it has been around forever.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
