March Madness is coming to an end once again, and once again no one has a perfect bracket. You've made brackets and your friends have made brackets, you've even forced your friends who know absolutely nothing about basketball to make brackets, and you expect to win because you think you know the best teams and because you just...will! But like we all know, no one has a dang perfect bracket. So, now what? You go on to the next best thing, points. Of course, you'll get the most points. If the players on the teams that you've picked would just do their job correctly, the same as they have been, then yes, you will get the most points and you will be all-time champion of the enseefreakingdoubleayy bracket competition. And yes, you are a bit competitive.
So, flashback to when the games first started, and the brackets were fresh and unmarked. You've watched most of the prior games, you know all about the seed system, you know who should win, and you spend half of your days worrying about how many brackets you should make and whether or not those teams are really the right pick. You get in on some pools and try to make some potential money. You set up all of your brackets and your friend's brackets on your wall, with a big blank bracket near it, so you can see the official winners.
You continue to watch the games. You have a lot of points thanks to your smart bracket choices. And your other friends in your pools are doing well too, but you're the best. And yet, something is still wrong. Why aren't the clueless ones, the ones that were supposed to make a bracket because it would be funny to see what they choose, not losing that badly? They have the right teams, and the only reason they chose the teams was because of their funny names and pretty colors. You've accounted for a few upsets, yes. But why are they so close behind?
The fact of it is, the winners and scores of these basketball games are inevitable. There is absolutely no way you could possibly get a perfect bracket without either cheating or luck. In the end, the teams that work their butts off during the games, and the ones who feel the most energy from the crowds are going to win the most and get their name on the bracket more and more. Trust me, you're not the only one who has cried after a loss, nor the only one who has lost money on bets. The best thing you could do is take everything with a grain of salt and try not to break your TV. Just have fun with it and don't get yourself to work up over something silly.
