March Madness has officially begun. It is the time of the annual NCAA college basketball tournament. The first round will be March 15-16, and the championship will be April 4th. With all the 32 conference champions in, there were another 36 spots up for grabs. Those lucky teams were announced on Selection Sunday on CBS.
CBS is under some heat for their selection show that stretched over two hours. From 2002-2015, it was only an hour. Before that from 1982 until 2001, the show was only half an hour. Viewers hated the "excruciating[ly]" long show and claimed that "CBS sucked the life out of Selection Sunday." Teams anxiously sat waiting to know their fates. It lead to more problems when fans turned to the leaked brackets on Twitter rather than sitting through the CBS show.
It might have taken longer, but the bracket was finally announced. As the 2016 tournament schedule was released, basketball fans across the country began filling out their bracket. Fans are betting on their favorite teams, calling upsets, and/or hoping for a Cinderella story with an underdog thriving in the tournament. Here's this season's bracket:
So, let the madness begin.
