The crazy month of March is right around the corner, and what's more important than spring break and St. Patrick's Day? Oh, that's right. College basketball.
Fans all over the country are hyped up and ready to watch their favorite teams make a run in this tournament. March Madness is what die-hard fans live for and here are just a few of the many things basketball fanatics love about the month of March:
1. Basketball, basketball and more basketball
College basketball gets us all hype. Ball is life!
2. Watching the best teams in the country get their seeds and placed in a region
"How the heck did they get the #1 seed?"
"Oh my gosh, we're in the same region as them!?"
"They have such an easy path to the final four, it's almost unfair."
3. Making a bracket
There are 4 ways to make a bracket:
1. You watch these teams all the time and know their actual talent and ability and place them based on that.
2. You place them by their number of which they were seeded.
3. You write down whichever team has the cooler mascot.
4. You go with whatever team has the better colors.
4. Every game is an excuse to party (and eat pizza)
Or stay in and order pizza. Or go out to a party and then get back home and order pizza. Or go out to a party and eat pizza there. Or go somewhere for the game and get pizza. Whichever one it is, there is always an excuse to eat pizza and party.
5. Watching games on your phone or computer all day instead of paying attention in class or at work
You aren't listening to anything anyone is saying to you because all that is important at that moment is whether the player is going to make the second free throw to put the team up by one. You're not trying to be rude, but these games are pretty important. Things can wait.
6. Rooting for the underdog
7. Watching that one smaller school make the biggest run in the tournament
We all love to see the unexpected school winning big games and making its way deeper and deeper into the tournament. But once they match up against your favorite team, you want nothing more than for their tournament streak to end, sorry not sorry!
8. Watching your favorite team's rival lose while your team is still in it
We'll say it once and we'll say it again. We're better than you. And yes, we will dance like this guy once it happens. For sure.
9. The Sweet Sixteen
There is nothing more sweet than when your favorite team is in the Sweet Sixteen. Only the best sixteen teams in the tournament are left, and at this point your bracket is completely screwed.
10. Buzzer Beater games
There's nothing better than knowing you can turn on the TV during March and find a close game to watch. These games get more intense each round of the tournament and most of them come down to the final seconds of play. The endings of these games can literally knock us out of our seats!
11. The Elite 8
Eight always feels great. The teams that make it this far in the tournament have something to be proud of. This is the most intense round of the tournament. We love watching these eight teams battle it out until the final seconds of their games to try and make it to the Final Four.
12. The Final Four
We love this round. If your favorite team is in the Final Four, you would do anything to get your hands on a pair of tickets. It's down to the best four teams in the tournament and everything is left on the court during these games. There's no doubt that you are watching both of these games at some type of get together or at your favorite bar. Nothing is better than some good basketball, no matter the teams.
13. The Champions
The team that wins this tournament deserves every bit of being titled the champions. March Madness is full of upsets and mishaps, and to make it to the championship game and to win it all is something to be very proud of. All their hard work has finally paid off as the whole country watches both of these teams play until one of them is declared the winners.
Basketball fans all over the country are excited for this tournament to take off here shortly and to watch some great basketball. We're excited to make our predictions on who is going to win it all this year. I'm going with the Spartans of Michigan State. Who are you choosing to go all the way?
