Basketball season is here! But that also means all of its fans are here as well. From your bandwagon to your ride-or-die fans, LA has it all. As we’re gearing up for the bulk of basketball season, it seems like the types of NBA team fans are becoming more and more apparent.
Here is a list of the highly followed teams in Los Angeles and their typical fans:
Lakers Fans
Kobe, Kobe, Kobe. Number 24 license plates, number 24 jerseys, number 24 coffee mugs, number 24 call phones. Kobe reigns throughout Los Angeles. Basketball and non-basketball fans alike respect the Lakers prestige. Some fans know that the Lakers haven’t been performing to their old potential; some think they won the championship last year. One thing's for sure, these fans rep their team.
Clippers Fans
These are your true fans. I don’t know many Clipper fans that are just coming along for the ride. They know every J.J. Redick three-point shot and every Jamal Crawford crossover. But you do have to notice the difference between Clipper fans and Blake Griffin fans. There are many teenage girls that watch his KIA commercials and fall in love with the strong jaw-lined player, but unfortunately, they think the Los Angeles team he plays for is the Lakers. If you need stats information for the Clippers, avoid the Blake Griffin fans.
Warriors Fans
The reigning champs! And Warriors fans won’t let you forget it. These fans are taking over Los Angeles with their cute Riley Curry propaganda. The splash bros are splashing into restaurants and bars across LA on game days, and it even seems like there are more of them then LA fans. The bay is taking over, and those yellow and blue t-shirts will not let you forget it.
Now let's check in on our teams across the country:
Bulls Fans
These fans are few and far between in LA, but they are DIE HARD. A Bulls fan has a jersey, a t-shirt, a hat, and a life size cutout of D-Rose with all of his injuries circled. Everything.
Nuggets Fans
There aren’t any.
Cavaliers Fans
Lebron James. Most people have a high opinion of Lebron, and forgive him for “taking his talents to South Beach." The same fans that burned his jersey now cry when you talk badly about him. You can find Cavalier Fans when you mention something about Lebron in a lecture hall and someone four rows back puts in their two cents about the “legend."
Spurs Fans
These fans are true through and through, they watch the team work perfectly together just as they as fans work together. Led by Gregg Popovich, the team works uniquely to its competitors' styles. It’s truly a beautiful team of players and fans, and everyone is secretly a little jealous.
Through all of these fans there is something to celebrate… BASKETBALL SEASON! Now you can go to a bar every night of the week and celebrate the beautiful game.
