Unique Fears: What's Yours?

Is a fear of anything really irrational? Fears can have meaning behind them, whether that be a terrible childhood experience, a recent scary movie, or strange family member traditions. Other fears you just can't explain. I asked a couple of people what their strange fears are and let me tell ya.... these fears are unique. But maybe you can totally relate! Maybe in this list you will find you share a same fear and decide that this strange thing about you, is actually, quite, well....Awesome!

So I'm going to be straight up honest with this first fear, this is my strange fear and that is my fear of balloons.

Globophobia

Yes, the fear of balloons. Oddly enough, many people share this fear. Including Oprah Winfrey! People who share this fear feel morbid fear at the thought, sight, touch or even smell of balloons. Balloons are associated with loud sounds and that gross squeaky sound. Balloons are also closely related to clowns!

Coulrophobia

Fear of clowns. Surprisingly, enough my second strange, yet not so unique, fear. I share this fear with Johnny Depp, and Daniel Radcliffe! That's pretty rad! Looking for a photo for this one sucked because there are so many pictures of scary clowns out there! Now I know there are some really nice people who are clowns, but I'm sorry, Stephen Spielberg ruined that for me!

Galeophobia or Selachophobia

Fear of Sharks! Hey, you can say you have something in common with Brad Pitt!

Basiphobia

Fear of falling, whether that be from a small step ladder, falling off the slide, or skydiving, that rush of adrenaline is just too much.

Glossophobia

Fear of public speaking. This is a tough one because in most cases you are placed in situations daily where you have to do some sort of public speaking. There are ways, however, to make this process easier. Know your topic, get organized, practice, visualize your success, deep breathes, get support, things like that may not make the fear go away all together but it may it more bearable.

Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia

Fear of long words. Ok, that word alone gave me anxiety!

Defecaloesiophobia

Fear of painful bowels movement....Well, then I am sorry if this is you. But sometimes it's better for you if you make like Elsa and let it go....

Lepidopterophobia

Fear of butterflies. No worries Nicole Kidman can totally vouch for you on this one!

Bromidrophobia

Fear of emitting body odors. No need to be embarrassed about this fear. You keep putting on that deodorant, I won't complain!

Athazagoraphobia

Fear of being forgotten. Yup, it just got deep here. But that's ok! It's not weird or abnormal to have that fear. You are not alone.

No matter what your fear is, don't think you're necessarily the strangest person on this planet. There are so many fascinating fears out there. Fears you may not even think would exist. It's pretty awesome! Now here's my quick freebie life lesson to you. Have your fears, be aware of who you are. Fears don't make you weird, they show your brain is just really imaginative and active. Don't let your fears take over your life and hold you back from having a darned good time in this life. Reach for the sky buddy, because you got this!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
