" My help comes from You.
You're right here, pulling me through.
You carry my weakness, my sickness, my brokenness all on Your shoulders."
- "Shoulders" by For King & Country
Stress is completely inevitable. Like most college students, I usually find myself unable to hide from the stress that can so easily burden my heart. Everywhere I turn, there always seems to be a different type of stressor waiting to attack me and slow me down. In times of overwhelming anxiety, I often find myself trying to handle each situation on my own in the easiest way possible. However, no matter how alone I feel, I know I've never overcome a single obstacle on my own.
My help comes from the Lord. He covers me in His grace and relieves my stress. Although I am flawed, selfish, and completely undeserving, He helps me get through every hardship I ever face. Even when I am so determined to fix all of my problems on my own, God draws me back closer to Him and reminds me that He is in control.
As a full-time college student, I find myself learning how to manage hectic schedules. There are days when I feel as if I don't have a moment to breathe. Reflecting back on times of stress, I am incredibly grateful to God for giving me the strength to get through them. Even though there are days when I fall short, if I didn't have God to rely on, I would be completely lost. If I didn't have the opportunities to lose myself in a song of worship or read a devotion that gives me the reassurance I need for that day, I'd have no way to remind myself that His plan for me should be my main focus instead of any plan I desire for myself.
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Lean not on your own understanding. Doesn't that seem so hard to do? Letting go of your own understanding and your own way of getting things done so that God can put everything into place according to His perfect plan. Giving all of your problems over to the Lord may seem impossible, but the outcome is far better than anything you could ever imagine.
