On a weekly basis I find myself overwhelmed, many students in this day in age are just like me. We have full class loads and work about 30 hours a week. Now I’m a senior and I added an internship into the mix. Don’t get me wrong…I am very grateful to have such a great internship, but juggling it all isn’t easy. What always keeps me going is knowing that one day all my hard work will pay off. In life when we are overwhelmed, words of wisdom can be very inspiring and helpful.

“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill

Whether you failed a test or didn’t make that A that you wanted on your research paper…it’s okay. That test or that paper doesn’t define you in your future career. Have the courage to continue and keep working hard.

“Where there is no struggle, there is no strength.” – Oprah Winfrey

No one enjoys struggling in areas of their life, but most of us have to struggle in order to be successful. So when you’re struggling remember that your struggles are your strengths in the making.

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated.” – Dr. Maya Angelou

It’s easy to be hard on yourself when you feel defeated, but you have to be strong and remember that defeat may come your way in life, but that doesn’t mean you are defeat.

Don’t give up and keep working hard!

Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
