17 Moments In Football History That Prove Brady Is "The G.O.A.T."
Patriots Fans Blog

Tom Brady, quarterback of the New England Patriots, is arguably the best player to ever participate in an NFL football game. He is, what we call, the "G.O.A.T." – the greatest of all time.

If you don't agree, think long and hard about when the last time you weren't worried about your favorite team playing the Patriots was in the last seventeen years of his career? I'll wait.

If being a 5x Super Bowl champion, 4x Super Bowl MVP, and playing in twelve Pro Bowls still isn't enough to convince you, maybe these seventeen Brady career highlights will change your mind:

1. Tom Brady's winning-touchdown 30-yard pass in a playoff game against the Ravens.

[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2017%2F02%2F21%2F636232334098038308-1206974641_jbZN.gif&ho=https%3A%2F%2Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net&s=864&h=631e6686b33dba2adb65810e48e9aacde9a4e9297f4940367f4aaab000f01611&size=980x&c=2717751428 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2017%252F02%252F21%252F636232334098038308-1206974641_jbZN.gif%26ho%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net%26s%3D864%26h%3D631e6686b33dba2adb65810e48e9aacde9a4e9297f4940367f4aaab000f01611%26size%3D980x%26c%3D2717751428%22%7D" expand=1]

Not to mention – it was first down. That's a bold move for any quarterback.

2. And when Brady flew over the Raven's defensive line, scoring a touchdown, earlier in that same game.

What an amazing AFC Championship (2012) game – Brady surely didn't disappoint. The Patriots won 23-20.

3. When he led the Patriots to their first Super Bowl title in 2002.

A former sixth-round pick filled in for Bledsoe, and the rest was history.

4. This perfectly placed touchdown pass from Brady to Julian Edelman.

[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2017%2F02%2F25%2F6362357864228494141287688625_Brady.gif&ho=https%3A%2F%2Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net&s=738&h=f8b690bf43181f778b61db6cc14ebd8cb1dc150a3ce9dc196c12d460d7c2fe64&size=980x&c=378639673 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2017%252F02%252F25%252F6362357864228494141287688625_Brady.gif%26ho%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net%26s%3D738%26h%3Df8b690bf43181f778b61db6cc14ebd8cb1dc150a3ce9dc196c12d460d7c2fe64%26size%3D980x%26c%3D378639673%22%7D" expand=1]

5. Brady's game-winning touchdown pass to Kenbrell Tompkins against the Saints.

The Patriots, thanks to Brady, were able to pull off a last minute "miracle" win against the Saints. The final score was 30-27, and this was the final winning touchdown of the game.
Here's a GIF of Rob Ryan's reaction to the play:[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2017%2F02%2F24%2F6362356903598195701486352604_rob-ryan.gif&ho=https%3A%2F%2Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net&s=447&h=72b2a98d4c622e066677a1ccb176239510820d1827e5e940eee445cbc18e5741&size=980x&c=2994485715 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2017%252F02%252F24%252F6362356903598195701486352604_rob-ryan.gif%26ho%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net%26s%3D447%26h%3D72b2a98d4c622e066677a1ccb176239510820d1827e5e940eee445cbc18e5741%26size%3D980x%26c%3D2994485715%22%7D" expand=1]

Need I say more?

6. His 99 yard pass to Wes Welker.

Yes. Ninety-nine yards.

7. When he avoided being sacked by Oakland in the fourth quarter.

[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2017%2F02%2F21%2F636232355737231514218993947_tom-brady-avoids-sack-4th-quarter-744-oakland.gif%3Fw%3D1000&ho=https%3A%2F%2Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net&s=557&h=b16910793505963eb9deee316134930c38a7a09818f35a1f2644f65ce379f0ba&size=980x&c=2243428308 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2017%252F02%252F21%252F636232355737231514218993947_tom-brady-avoids-sack-4th-quarter-744-oakland.gif%253Fw%253D1000%26ho%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net%26s%3D557%26h%3Db16910793505963eb9deee316134930c38a7a09818f35a1f2644f65ce379f0ba%26size%3D980x%26c%3D2243428308%22%7D" expand=1]

I like to imagine him saying, "Haha, you thought!" Brady was able to avoid the sack, and complete the pass for a first down.

8. Brady's touchdown against the Raiders in infamous 'tuck rule' playoff game.

After not one, but two fakes, Brady ran right into the in-zone. As controversial as the game may be, we cannot deny that this particular play was beautiful on Brady's end. The Patriots won in OT 16-13, and then went on to win their first Super Bowl.

9. Brady's near-perfect touchdown pass to Edelman.

[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2017%2F02%2F25%2F6362357915693851071615651280_giphy.gif&ho=https%3A%2F%2Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net&s=837&h=cc4398617d5a1e0ada9d8818b9067cc1f0eeda7aa615ad367571720254398069&size=980x&c=3942595571 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2017%252F02%252F25%252F6362357915693851071615651280_giphy.gif%26ho%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net%26s%3D837%26h%3Dcc4398617d5a1e0ada9d8818b9067cc1f0eeda7aa615ad367571720254398069%26size%3D980x%26c%3D3942595571%22%7D" expand=1]

In the 2015 Super Bowl against the Seahawks, Brady completed this near-perfect pass to Edelman in the fourth quarter of the game.

10. This flawless touchdown pass from Brady to Brian Tyms.

[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2017%2F02%2F24%2F636235741134950423-1715046928_giphy.gif&ho=https%3A%2F%2Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net&s=871&h=cb340b13130c8c283ac7c87e3da742fee89653ae094e50039ce7f2f503b946fc&size=980x&c=2804949890 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2017%252F02%252F24%252F636235741134950423-1715046928_giphy.gif%26ho%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net%26s%3D871%26h%3Dcb340b13130c8c283ac7c87e3da742fee89653ae094e50039ce7f2f503b946fc%26size%3D980x%26c%3D2804949890%22%7D" expand=1]

Two years ago, in week 6, Brady proved himself once again in a game against the Bills (not that anyone was really surprised).

11. The beautiful, one-handed Randy Moss catch from, of course, Tom Brady.

12. That one time he juked Brian Urlacher...

[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2017%2F02%2F21%2F636232330407680151-1943222121_AcrobaticIckyGibbon.gif&ho=https%3A%2F%2Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net&s=715&h=6cc9e01738ba8f89ec58849312a8ad304ab0266c95dafa512a8fe584a0224dc7&size=980x&c=1300688513 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2017%252F02%252F21%252F636232330407680151-1943222121_AcrobaticIckyGibbon.gif%26ho%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net%26s%3D715%26h%3D6cc9e01738ba8f89ec58849312a8ad304ab0266c95dafa512a8fe584a0224dc7%26size%3D980x%26c%3D1300688513%22%7D" expand=1]A quarterback juking a defensive player of the year? A linebacker who was in eight pro-bowls? That's something only Brady could do.

13. Another beautiful pass from Brady to Tompkins in a game against the Falcons.

[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2017%2F02%2F25%2F6362357807940621892097121806_kenbrell-thompkins-catch-against-falcons-a.gif&ho=https%3A%2F%2Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net&s=150&h=d1bdffe3c350b142cbc4c0d5d4bd698f87fbf5a023a302ef097b53abfd36e9ad&size=980x&c=3160626163 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2017%252F02%252F25%252F6362357807940621892097121806_kenbrell-thompkins-catch-against-falcons-a.gif%26ho%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net%26s%3D150%26h%3Dd1bdffe3c350b142cbc4c0d5d4bd698f87fbf5a023a302ef097b53abfd36e9ad%26size%3D980x%26c%3D3160626163%22%7D" expand=1]

14. Brady's 49-yard touchdown pass to Shane Vereen against the Jets.

[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2017%2F02%2F25%2F6362357819910964381214771423_Vereen.gif&ho=https%3A%2F%2Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net&s=427&h=038e847630c10280d7d978e59442116bc9cc145d015d4c6e38c0e93895e5ae94&size=980x&c=1866864727 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2017%252F02%252F25%252F6362357819910964381214771423_Vereen.gif%26ho%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net%26s%3D427%26h%3D038e847630c10280d7d978e59442116bc9cc145d015d4c6e38c0e93895e5ae94%26size%3D980x%26c%3D1866864727%22%7D" expand=1]This was the first score of the game against New York, and happened within the first few minutes. Brady has always been a show off, but who can blame him?

15. When Brady and the Patriots scored 5 touchdowns in 1 quarter.

Five touchdowns in one game is impressive, but in one quarter? That's impeccable. In 2009, the Patriots hosted the Titans, and well...pretty much swept the ground with them.

16. When Brady caught that pass from Danny Amendola in a game against the Eagles.

[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2017%2F02%2F25%2F636235799291657259480394851_bradycatch.gif%3Fw%3D650&ho=https%3A%2F%2Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net&s=759&h=10ed0f9bfd03d80aba908f15aad5dfa53c5fb9f84e4e58cea74d7d32102e260e&size=980x&c=2629052414 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2017%252F02%252F25%252F636235799291657259480394851_bradycatch.gif%253Fw%253D650%26ho%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Faz616578.vo.msecnd.net%26s%3D759%26h%3D10ed0f9bfd03d80aba908f15aad5dfa53c5fb9f84e4e58cea74d7d32102e260e%26size%3D980x%26c%3D2629052414%22%7D" expand=1]The game was otherwise disappointing for Patriots fans, but with this play, Brady reminded us he does so much more than just throw a ball.

17. Brady's second encounter with Peyton Manning.

Brady and the Patriots beat Manning and his Colts in their first encounter, but it could be easily argued that his defense carried him through it. The second meeting, however, was one for the books. Brady completed 16-of-20 passes for 202 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions, and his quarterback rating was 148.3. This is even more impressive if you remember that this was only his fourth game as starting quarterback.
