10 Moments in College When You Just Really Need Your Mom
Because as much as we like to think we're independent, there are still times when we really just need our mamas.
1 .When you're sick.
I came down with the world's worst cold this week, and all I could think about was my mom. How much NyQuil could I drink before I go into a coma? Do I take Mucinex or Sudafed? More importantly, where's my homemade chicken noodle soup and smoothie delivery?
2. When you need to do laundry.
Okay, at this point in our lives, we all know how to do laundry (or at least should have some sort of idea...) But do we ever actually want to do it? No. And don't even get me started on changing the sheets without Mom's help.
3 .When you have nothing to eat in your kitchen.
Sure, this problem can be easily fixed by swinging by Zoe's Kitchen or the Carving Board for the 4th time in a week. But sometimes, all you really want is Mom's cooking. Or at least have her take you out for a decent meal that doesn't involve pizza or Barefoot Wine.
4. When all your friends get dates and you don't.
And all you want is your mom to tell you how much boys suck and that you're beautiful and college boys aren't worth your time.
5. When you have “nothing to wear."
While it may have caused some conflict while I still lived at home, I really miss fighting over who gets to wear what out of whose closet.
6. When you and your friends are drinking and anything even remotely funny happens.
“Hold on, I need to text my mom and tell her about this!!!" (Make sure this doesn't happen too often… sorry, Mama).
7. When you hit a car in the parking lot.
Naturally, I called my mom in a full on panic before alerting the campus police. Because Mom always knows best… even from 4 hours away.
8. When you get a good grade.
Nobody appreciates the fact that you got an “A" like your mom. Nope, your friends really don't care.
9. When you have a lot of work and you're tired and all you want to do is whine and gossip.
Let's be real, everybody at Wake Forest has a lot of work. Therefore, no one really has sympathy for you. But when you tell your mom you've had 3 exams in one day? Oh, Mom feels for you and will let you b*tch and moan all you want.
10. When your blender explodes all over your kitchen.
I don't think there are words for this.
Mom, I love you and thanks for everything you have done for me and still continue to do. You're the best!
