We currently live in a world that tells you how you should look, who you should be friends with, and how you should live your entire life. If you do not “meet” societies standards for these things, you do not fit in. I have heard some advice lately and it really sparked something in me that everyone in this world should realize. Everyone is broken, some more broken than others, some stronger than others.
Everyone struggles with something or has struggled with it before that has drastically changed or effected their lives. That does not make them less of a person or not fit in with everyone else, it makes them different. We constantly look for people to give compliments to us, to tell us we are doing a great job, or to say they are proud of us. When we do not get told those things, our self-confidence plummets. In the end, all we have is ourselves, so why not love the self God gave us?
We need more self-love because society sees brokenness as a weakness. Brokenness is the furthest thing from a weakness, it is a strength.
We need more self-love because we were raised to believe that we “destroyed” everything good in the world.
We need more self-love because God created each one of us individually and we are so perfect in His eyes.
We need more self-love because people constantly come and go in your life. The only person we can 100% depend on, is our own self.
We need more self-love because rumors in our generation can tear someone apart. Some humans are cruel, but if you are confident in yourself, no one can affect that.
We need more self-love because most of us do not fit societies “perfect” image. Photoshop and editing apps are this generations worst nightmare. No one is perfect, you must accept the body God gave you and love your imperfections.
We need more self-love because we only have ourselves at the end of the day.
Living in this generation is hard. We are constantly being judged by everyone around us and perfection is something we are always trying to reach. Something that took a long time for myself to figure out is that no one is perfect. You will get stabbed in the back, you will always compare yourself to everyone, and you will often think you are not good enough for anyone or anything.
We need to love ourselves first before anything, because when life throws obstacles in your way, you will blow them off like they never happened. We must accept ourselves for who we are and love the self God gave us before these obstacles come and try to knock us down.
