"Confessions of a Shopaholic" may be a movie you watched when you were younger, but now you're all grown up and realize you can relate to it in more ways than one. Being a broke college student and having an obsession with retail and all things related to shopping makes for a hard life. You know you're a shopaholic if you can relate to most/all of the following:
1. You spend more time online shopping in class than taking notes
Wait, the teacher's talking? I should be taking notes? I think I'll pass on that and continue adding things to my cart.
2. Retail therapy is something you firmly believe in
It's like your life motto. Whether you had a bad day at work or a did poorly on a test, it's something you resort to on a regular basis. Let's face it, shopping makes everything better.
3. Your paychecks don't last long
They go in your account and leave within a few days -- or maybe even a few hours.
4. You notice yourself having to justify your shopping habits a lot
There are worse habits than shopping to be addicted to. At least the only thing I'm harming is my bank account.
5. You're closet/room is overflowing with all your purchases
Sorry, not sorry! It's hard parting with your things, so you just try to shove it all in a closet or room and hope no one notices.
6. You find any and all excuses to go shopping
Party coming up and need a new dress? OK, let's go shopping. Interview coming up and need a new outfit? OK, time to shop.
7. You know how to navigate the mall better than you know how to navigate your school
You know where your favorite stores are and the best routes to get to them, even on the crowded days.
8. Coupons are the worlds greatest invention
I would like to meet the wonderful human being who created the idea of the coupon and give them an award.
9. You know when the sales are going on for your favorite stores
You plan your shopping around the sales at your favorite stores. You don't feel as guilty buying twice the amount because it was "cheaper."
10. You ask yourself, "What is self-control?"
Can someone please tell me what self-control is? And how you acquire it? Because I definitely don't have any when it comes to shopping.
11. You have your credit card number memorized
I don't know my social security number, my driver's license number, or any other important number, but you bet I know my credit card number.
12. Your friends love it as much as you
The mall is yours and your friends' go-to hangout spot, especially when you live in a town where there's nothing better to do. They support your addiction because they also suffer from it.
