Miami is 5-0 for the first time since 2013 and is hoping to keep the momentum going. After close wins against Florida State and Georiga Tech the past two weeks, Miami prepares to face Syracuse. Even though Syracuse just upset a highly talented Clemson team, the Hurricanes are still favored and looking to continue the undefeated season.
Miami vs Florida State
The Hurricanes spent most of the game coming from behind. Miami began the game on the strength of its defense, which forced Florida State’s QB (Blackman) to throw an interception (Jackson intercepted) right before halftime. At the start of the third quarter, Miami’s nationally ranked defense forced another interception (Delaney intercepted) from the young quarterback. Later in the quarter, receiver Braxton Berrios started to make his impact on the game when he caught his first touchdown of the game. Berrios would catch another touchdown in the fourth quarter to give Miami a 17-13 lead. Florida State would regain the lead later, but Rosier sealed the win with a 23 yard dime to Langham. Florida State’s backup quarterback tried his best to win the game for the Seminoles, but he ultimately lost out in his duel against Rosier. Rosier gave the Hurricanes their first win against Florida State in 7 years.
Miami vs Georgia Tech
This matchup was very similar to the Florida State one, as it required a last-minute drive by the offense to win the game. Georgia Tech started fast as they gained a 14-3 lead in the second quarter. But, just like the week before, Miami was prepared to comeback. Once the rain started to pour, the Hurricanes started to find their rhythm. Running back Travis Homer excited the Hard Rock crowd with a 26 yard touchdown run. Then, Rosier and the offense got the ball back and converted on a crucial 4th and 10 thanks to a great catch by Langham. Michael Badgley proceeded to kick a game-winning field goal that made the Hurricane fans roar.
Miami vs Syracuse
Two late clutch plays by Malik Rosier and Darrell Langham helped the Hurricanes stay undefeated against Florida State and Georgia Tech. Now, after back to back thrilling wins, Miami was prepared to face Syracuse and won. The Hurricanes were aware that this is a team that should not be underestimates, yet they continued to supersede our expectations.
