Why 'Love Your Melon' Is The Perfect Christmas Gift This Year
Love Your Melon

Love Your Melon was founded by two best friends in October of 2012 in an entrepreneurship class at the University of St. Thomas in Minn. Zach and Brian began with the simple idea of putting a hat on every child battling cancer in America. Now it is their mission to improve the lives of children battling cancer.

Their original goal was to donate 45 thousand hats, one for every child battling cancer, and after they reached that goal they set a new goal of raising one million dollars to go to pediatric cancer research and providing immediate support to children and their families. To date they have donated over 1.5 million dollars and over 85 thousand hats.

Their partners, Pinky Swear Foundation and Cure Search, work in the field of pediatric oncology. They fund cancer research initiatives and provide immediate support for families of children battling cancer. 50 percent of their profits are donated to pediatric cancer research and for every hat that's sold a child battling cancer gets a hat too. So when you're thinking about what to get someone for Christmas this is the best gift because you're also giving a gift to a child.

The hats are so warm and cozy and you know that they're made with love.

They've done so well that they have expanded to other apparel as well. They also have baseball hats, shirts, sweatshirts, tank tops, headbands, scarves, coffee mugs and more.

And if all that this organization already does isn't enough, they also create therapeutic adventures for children battling cancer. Therapeutic treatments are proven to increase treatment success and at Love Your Melon they're dedicated to providing this relief for children by creating an adventure they will never forget. They're are able to take them on a helicopter, plane, boat or limo ride. The inspiration for these adventures came from their friend Zach Sobiech, a young man who battled osteosarcoma cancer. They asked him what he wanted to do before he died and he said he wanted to go up into the "clouds" and they were able to take him up in a helicopter ride with weeks to live.

Christmas is a time of giving and love and this is the perfect gift for anyone. Go on to loveyourmelon.com and pick out the perfect hat or accessory for your loved one and know that when you do you gave a child hope and comfort and made an impact on someone's life and pediatric cancer research.

Additionally if you love this organization and want to get more involved they have a Campus Crew Program. This crew is made up of students from all around the country that are determined to improve the lives of children battling cancer. (Campus Crew Application)

Happy Holidays!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
