Louisville Players Screwed By Postseason Ban

The self-imposed ban hurts players who weren't even around for the rule breaking.

Louisville Players Screwed By Postseason Ban

I may not go to the University of Louisville, but I was born and bred a Cardinals fan. My father instilled a love for them in me that has been fostered and grown for the past 21 years of my life. With that, the announcement by the athletics program today saddened me greatly. The self-imposed postseason ban for the Cardinals is a major blow to the program, but that is not why I am sad. No. I feel bad for Trey Lewis and Damion Lee. These two players chose to continue their degrees and come to play at Louisville for their final years of eligibility. They are now left without a chance at postseason glory in their only seasons in Cardinal uniforms.

These two men had no part of the recruitment allegations that have faced Louisville in the past year, yet they are the ones taking the brunt of the punishment. Lee, from Cleveland State, and Lewis, from Drexel, came in to a Louisville team in need of some game experience. This pair came in as top players and neither have played in NCAA tournament. March Madness is a dream for most basketball players growing up. Playing on that kind of stage is unimaginable, and seeing these two class-acts get royally screwed over just pisses me off.

How does it seem fair to punish players who were not involved in the problems facing the staff? This is not the first time NCAA affiliates have self-imposed postseason bans. I never understand the punishment. You hurt the players more than anything. Rick Pitino is not in his first or last season with Louisville. He will have many more years to accumulate postseason victories. Hurting players like Lee and Lewis in a way that can never be repaired is unfair beyond words.

While I see the need to punish a university that breaks rules, I don't see it as reason to hurt young men who did nothing but play a game they love at an amazing level.

Trey Lewis and Damion Lee have been so professional in the eyes of a terrible situation. As a Louisville fan, I would like to take a moment to salute these two amazing players. They have made it an amazing year in Cardinal basketball, and I know they will make the most of these final nine games. Just remember #L1C4.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
