So let's talk about little things that make me happy. I would say little things that make you happy but who's to say these make you happy? This list is things that make me happy and you probably have your own separate things and if some are the same then great. So here we go.

Little things that make me happy:

1. Seeing people jamming out in their cars

2. When random strangers smile at me or each other

3. When people remember my name

4. Any and all holiday decorations

5. Stepping on crunchy leaves

6. Making people smile/laugh

7. Flowers

8. Humming

9. Unexpectedly getting a good grade

10. Reading to people

11. Talking about books/shows

12. Driving with my friends

13. Knowing random movie facts

14. Making Food (especially for other people)

15. Little kids in costumes*

*Also, a random story about little kids in costumes: a couple Halloweens ago I stayed home and handed out candy and it was really fun and there was this cute little boy dressed as a dragon that told me I was pretty. Needless to say, it was so adorable and it made my night.

Alright, so I really enjoyed making this list because it just goes to show how you can be happy in your life without really trying. It's good to remind yourself every once in a while that the world isn't all bad and that there will come a time when you will be glad you didn't give up.

I encourage everyone to make a list like this. Don't worry about how long it is or if you can't think of any right away or they are dorky or unusual things. Then once you've thought of some, save it somewhere and keep adding to it. When you see something simple that makes you smile, add it. When you think something is cute, add it.

There is this quote from a Series of Unfortunate Events that says, "Remember above all else there is more good in this world than evil." So remind yourself of that sometimes with the good things you see.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
