Leaving Those People Behind

We have all gone through the change of having friends. We grow up with friends and we may or may not still be friends with them today. However, there will be a time in our lives that a group of people or a specific person enters and it changes everything. Well, unfortunately, I am in that stage of my life. Have you ever felt so comfortable around people and then BOOM, out of nowhere you have been banished for having your own thoughts? Well, I have and it is so much fun. NOT. Lately, I have been dealing with a lot of people that I guess you can call Regina George. I mean, we are in our 20s, not in high school. Get over yourself.

I do not like being told that I am a bad person with a bad attitude, considering when I am doing literally nothing wrong. I mean come on who likes being told that? No one of course! However, if you have a problem with me, tell me to my face. Do not, I repeat DO NOT hide behind a screen. Bye Felicia! I like to live my life the way I do.

I have entered a moment in my young life where I do not care about kicking people out. I do not care if you are dating a friend of mine or I have known you for YEARS. I do not like hypocrites, liars, just rude people in general.

So here is my advice to all of you who have to deal with that same thing,

1. Get angry about it. Vent to the people who are hurting you. Now they would have to be repeat offenders. And just do not care about what you say.

2. Cry about it. It is okay to cry a river and feel depressed. I know I have continuously cried to my boyfriend about how these people in our lives or my life hurt me.

3. Just shrug it off. Eventually, you will just let their comments roll off of your shoulder. You will show them that they do not matter to you and nothing they can say or do will bother you.

I understand this may seem shady, but this is one way to express my feelings. Nothing in this world will ever get to me ever again.

If you are in the same room as them because you have to be, say hi and bye and ignore them. They may want to start something or throw nasty looks your way, but that is A-OKAY! You are the bigger person no matter what anybody says.

To all of the people in my life currently, PEACE OUT CUB SCOUT!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
