It's the age old debate. It has sparked a civil war between the North and the South, dividing families along the way. Punches have been thrown, words have been sworn and divorce lawyers have been hired. Now it is 2016 and it is time to finally settle this debate once and for all... Who has the better donut shop? Let's look at the evidence:

Exhibit A: The Journey

Dunkin' Donuts was founded in Quincy, Massachusetts, in 1950 - making 2016 their 66th anniversary. Krispy Kreme was founded in 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; this will be their 79th anniversary. KK has the experience and the longevity over Dunks. Age before beauty, my dears.

Exhibit B: The Creation

We're not talking about who has been around longer anymore, we're talking about how the donuts arrive at their destination. Krispy Kreme makes their donuts fresh and in the store while Dunkin' ships theirs in on a truck. So really KK has the age and the beauty. At Krispy Kreme, you can watch your donuts come down the line and plunge right under a waterfall of glaze and unicorn tears. At Dunkin', you can watch them being unloaded off the truck if you find out their delivery schedule... No thanks.

Exhibit C: The Stores

Dunkin' Donuts has over 11,000 locations while Krispy Kreme serves only a little over 1,000. While Dunkin' serves a larger area, KK keeps it simple so that you don't have to see six of them on every block. That orange and pink just serves as a reminder of the bedroom every girl is trying to leave in the 5th grade. Plus, Krispy Kreme has the same colors as Christmas. Coincidence? I think not. (Did I mention you can literally watch your donuts being made? It's basically food porn.)

Exhibit D: The Experience

It's a battle of "Hot Now" versus "well, we can warm it up for you". Krispy Kreme, while making everything fresh, is all about the experience. You come in, you sit, chow down on a couple dozen of the original glazed and you get a hat - the legendary paper hat that is the stuff of childhood dreams. Nothing says family dining like using children for free marketing. Dunkin' Donuts is the McDonald's of the donut world - you come in, you get your food, you leave and they probably got your order wrong. That's it.

Exhibit E: The Cost

A dozen donuts will run you about $10 at Dunkin' while a dozen at Krispy Kreme is only $8.99 for any variety of flavors you want - that's less than three quarters per donut. Krispy Kreme even charges $0.10 less for their iced coffees. Plus, KK slashes their prices when the Panthers win AND gives free donuts if you dress up like a pirate on September 19th. Take that, Dunks.

Exhibit F: The 'Nuts

Dunks' donuts have a special texture - you might have to chew them for 15 minutes and wash them down with a giant coffee. Hey, at least you're getting a donut, we think. Krispy Kreme is a melt in your mouth fest. You can pop an entire donut in and have it finished before a Dunkin' lover can even swallow their first bite. It's that melty and delicious-y.

Verdict: Krispy Kreme takes the cake! Err.. I mean donut?

"Now Dunks, I'll let you finish but... Krispy Kreme has THE BEST DONUTS OF ALL TIME"

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
