theeAfter 20 years of dominating the court, Kobe Bryant has played his last NBA game and has hung up his shoes for good. April 13, 2016, will be the day that basketball fans will remember this living legend going out scoring an NBA season-high 60 points.
In front of a packed Staples Center arena Kobe dished out his greatest performance of the season. A season in which was lost due to the fact that the Lakers aren't very good. But this season has been a celebration of a legend. A legend who has given everything to the game and has shown what true greatness is.
His final game was something special. The basketball world saw the Michael Jordan of his generation leave the game. The city of Los Angeles made sure to make it a special night for their longtime superstar. LA's finest came out for Bryant's last game including Jack Nicholson, Jay-Z, Kanye and Shaq. It was a night for the ages.
Kobe has inspired many throughout his illustrious career that has included five NBA titles, 18 all-star games and a two-time scoring champion. His career will go down as one of the best ever certainly just by looking at what he's done. His final game was everything he could've asked for and more. A game where fans at the Staples Center watched him drop 60 points and looked on at the Kobe they have become used to seeing on a nightly basis.
The night ended with a special on-court moment with Kobe addressing the crowd, telling them that he's comfortable with the way he's going out. Explaining that he's given everything he could to the game of basketball and to the city of Los Angeles.
When you think about it there really isn't anything Kobe hasn't done for the game of basketball and the city of Los Angeles. He's given everything he has to give to the game that he's possibly could. Unfortunately, his body has broken down and can no longer dominate as he once could.
Once a kid growing up in Philadelphia playing basketball at the playgrounds, Kobe took his talents to Los Angeles, a team in which he grew up idolizing, and made his mark as one of the greatest of all time in the NBA's history. Kobe will be missed on the court but his final game in which he scored 60 points was a perfect ending to a tremendous career.
