The Carolina Panthers have once again continued to stay pretty much perfect and make history with their recent win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have some pretty amazing players such as Heisman-winning quarterback and Florida State great Jameis Winston. Led by Coach Ron Rivera, the team has improved to a 15-1 record and is likely to do some pretty phenomenal things in this years playoffs. Despite all of the good things that this team has done during this remarkable season, there has also been something that has bothered me for some time: the noise that has been made about Cam Newton's touchdown celebrations. For example:
Normally, touchdown celebrations don't garner this type of negativity from spectators and former players alike they somewhat have a little bit of praise. Victor Cruz, Chad Ochocinco, Terrell Owens, Odell Beckham Jr. and Aaron Rodgers are only a few NFL stars that have had some elaborate touchdown dances that have not reciprocated so much energy and that has left me baffled. After watching the Panthers win time and time again, every week (excluding the loss to the Atlanta Falcons) I’ve come to the conclusion that people aren’t really mad at the dancing, but mad at the fact that the Panthers keep winning so they use Cam Newton as the “scapegoat”. In addition to the dancing, Newton has also celebrated touchdowns by making dreams come true by handing out footballs to his younger fans after every touchdown which is remarkable.
A mother and Tennessee Titans fan penned an open letter to Cam Newton and addressed his dancing, calling the celebrations derogatory, arrogant and said he was doing some “in your face taunting.” Plays before Tennessee Titan Avery Wilson celebrated a sack on Newton by doing Drake’s famous “Hotline Bling” dances. Along with the Tennessee mother, Hall of Fame defensive end Richard Dent was asked how he felt about Newton's celebrations and said that his "antics" are "disrespect" and he would've "knocked him out of the game". The dances that Cam Newton has been doing in his celebrations are popular dances that have swept the nation, one specifically known as the “Dab.” If players and spectators are so angry with the dancing, there are some simple solutions: KEEP HIM OUT OF THE ENDZONE and beat the Carolina Panthers, until then keep the complaining to a minimum. Cam Newton has a lot to celebrate with his team coming off a 38-10 win versus Tampa Bay, a 15-1 record and the birth of his new baby boy, Chosen Sebastian Newton. The Panthers have a first round bye and will continue their journey to win the 50th Superbowl. #KeepPounding
