There is no doubt that the world has been facing an unbelievable amount of tragedy and violence these days. It seems like every single day I click on Facebook only to find another shooting or bombing has occurred. It is very easy to become terrified of the world when there is so much hate being portrayed by the media. I have found myself nervous to go to the movie theaters, mall or concerts; things that should just be ordinary events have created anxiety for me and many other people as well. However, this is not the way we should live our lives and it is important to be reminded that there is also a lot of good in the world. Here are some inspiring quotes to give you a positive outlook on your life and the world around you.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." -Martin Luther King, Jr.

It is important to remember the peace teachings of MLK during times when there is so much unrest due to race. Martin Luther King, Jr. reminds me that violence is not the answer and maintaining hope is key.

"Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears."-Les Brown

With the fear of terrorism always lurking, it is easy to see why many people choose to take the safe route because they are afraid of evil. However, we must remember that we will regret the chances we didn't take if we let our fears take over.

"Welcome: all sizes, all colors, all ages, all cultures, all sexes, all beliefs, all religions, all types, all people, safe here."-Yoga Studio

I came across this sign in my yoga studio. This reminded me that also it seems like you can go anywhere in the world and be at risk for a tragedy, there.

"No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world."-Robin Williams

This inspiring quote by the late Robin Williams encourages people to use their voices to tell the world about their visions and ideas. With social media, it is so easy to spread a positive message.

" Education is education. We should learn everything and then choose which path to follow."-Malala Yousafzai

This quote reminds me to be grateful of the education I am able to receive, because girls across the world would die to get this. I also feel as though this quote is especially important to remember with the upcoming election in November.

“If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”-Roald Dahl

I love how beautiful this quote is and it is personally my favorite on this list. This serves as a reminder to have good thoughts about yourself, other people and the world to spread a positive attitude.

These quotes are meant as reminders that although there is hate in the world, the majority of the world is beautiful and good. I hope this inspires you to spread the love.

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
