Whenever my friends and I are wanting to get together to hang out and rant, we try to think of places to go eat. Our minds usually go blank when it comes to restaurants in Centralia. Since Centralia and surrounding areas are small towns, we always have to drive 45 minutes to an hour to find something good to eat. Yuck to spending money on gas to get something eat when there are actually great foods in Centralia. Here some choices that can be helpful on making your minds up on where you want to grab a bite.
Burger Haven
If you don’t want Mexican, there is a good old fashioned burger and milkshake joint on 639 North Popular Street. My mom and I always go there for their great chocolate milkshakes and fries. This is your typical family owned restaurant, and they have a TON of fried food and burgers on the menus. Go try it out if you never been there before!
Jerry’s Bar and Grill
Oh my lanta, have you ever tried Tammy’s cheesecakes? If you are a cheesecake lover, I would recommend going to Jerry’s. Believe me, it is way better than the Cheesecake Factory. Not only they have the best cheesecakes, they also have some great meals. If you order a dinner meal, you will get both a huge bowl of salad and great bowl of soup. Make sure you get the wine and cheese dressing for your salad. If you and your date are disagreeing on what to eat, Jerry’s is perfect because not only they serve American food, they serve Mexican, Chinese, and Italian food as well. Hop in your car and head down to Walmac (it’s literally connected to Centralia) at 830 Wabash Ave.
Corner’s Café
I been going to this restaurant since I was a young girl, and it never fails me. They have the best breakfast in town. Not only their breakfast are delicious, their home cooking meals are amazing as well. If you are a biscuit and gravy lover like I am, go get you some huge homemade biscuits and top it off with gravy. There is also a daily special going on every day, and their fish on Fridays are so great. Attention Cubs’ Fans, you might not want to walk in this place. Let’s just say that Corner’s Café is a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan. Let’s go Cardinals! This place is located at 816 S Poplar Street.
Java Joes
If you are a coffee addict, this café has the best coffee you are going to find in town. Not only they have yummy coffees, they have great lunch foods such as chicken salads and great potato soup. After you get done eating there, you have to take a tour in their unique antique shop. Oh, and you have to try their lemon cupcakes and apple pies. It is the best! Grab a coffee and support this family owned business at 325 West Noleman Street.
Fairway Bar and Restaurant on Greenview Golf Course
If you are craving pizza or any good dinner meals, this is the perfect place to go. The restaurant is located on top of the golf course and the views of the golf course is stunning. I know I will never be a pro golf player since I only can chop the ground up and not the ball, but I will be a pro at eating foods. If you love to golf or eating food, head out to Greenview Golf Course at 2801 Putter Lane.
Tequilas
Yes I know I put Tequilas on the list because let’s face it, it is some good Mexican food. This is the most common place to hang out, rant, and eat your life away with chips and salsa. Plus, you can work some calories off by walking to the movie theater next door. Tequilas became a popular place to eat that they actually build another one in downtown Centralia. Next time you want Mexican, head down to Tequilas on 1053 West Broadway.
I hope I gave you some ideas on where to eat in Centralia, and no, I'm not lying when I said Tammy's Cheesecakes are the best. I'm also a sweet tooth person if that explains.
