I Don't Need Acceptance From Everyone To Know My Worth

My biggest flaw? Thinking I need to be liked by everyone to be happy.

I Don't Need Acceptance From Everyone To Know My Worth

Recently, I was told that my existence on this Earth is annoying. I was told that I will never amount to anything and that everything I do is a "waste of space." I broke down crying because I convinced myself that it was true. I was told these harsh words by someone who hasn't even spoken one word to me.

One person said those demeaning phrases to my face, so it must be true and everyone else is probably thinking about what she was thinking.

Recently, I have been struggling. I have cried every night thinking that I am nothing, but a bother.

I have this mindset that everyone needs to like me in order for me to be happy.

This mindset is utterly unacceptable and just flat out wrong.

Everyone on this planet could hate me and I could still find a way to be happy. I do not need acceptance from everyone and I most certainly don't need to be liked by everyone. In fact, I don't need acceptance from anyone. The only person that absolutely needs to accept me for me is me.

I know I am strong. I know I am independent. I know that I am going to go far in life. I can achieve anything that I set my mind to. I am the only person restricting myself from growing, and it's because I think I need approval from people that don't even know me for me.

I am done letting people who only know me from social media convince me that I am not worth anything. I have fantastic people in my life right now that fully know me and the type of person that I am. That's the only acceptance I want and the only acceptance I need, besides my own.

That's the tea.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
