Dear Mom, I Don't Deserve You

I want to start this by saying something I don`t say nearly enough, Thank You. Thank You for all of the late nights you stayed up with me while I was sick, even though you had to be up early for work. Thank You for all of the days we would dance in the living room just being silly or singing children`s church songs in the car everywhere we went. Thank You for always taking my side and teaching me to become a strong and independent woman. Most importantly thank you for being the best Mom ever.

I know that there were challenging times, and times you felt like giving up, but you never did. No matter how you felt, you made sure we were taken care of, and that we were happy. You worked long hours, weekends, and holidays all so that your two girls never had to go without. We didn`t just have what we needed, but you worked so hard to make sure we could have the things we wanted. If I absolutely had to have the newest shoes, just because everyone else had the, you always found a way to get them for me.

Some of the best memories are times we stayed up late finishing a valentines mailbox or a poster for the school contest. I always had the best costumes for dress up days at school, because you`re the most creative mama there ever was. Every time I go to church I still remember you handing me a dollar bill for the offering, and making me feel so grown up because I had something to put in the plate. Even if you didn`t know that we were making memories that I will carry forever, you still made the most of every moment. You went to every event, and always cheered the loudest so I knew there were people supporting me.

There are times I take you for granted and don`t realize all that you do, but I am always grateful for having you as my mama. Thank you for being the best Mom ever. If I can be half the mom you are one day, my kids will be just as lucky as I am.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
