How Urban Dictionary Describes the U Of O

We are all familiar with the parody dictionary account Urban Dictionary and how it defines many different things using "street lingo." Here is how Urban dictionary describes the a few of the aspects of University of Oregon.

The University of Oregon

The best public university in Oregon. Located in the very liberal town of Eugene. Known for top rated programs in Business, Journalism, Psychology, Chemistry, and Physics. Also known for being the lovechild of Nike. Nike's CEO Phil Knight attended UO and pours a shit load of money into the school, especially into their athletic programs. The Oregon Ducks have some best athletic facilities in the nation. The Ducks consistently place near the top of the Pac 12 in men’s basketball and football. The girls are hot, the guys are average, the grass is green, and the beer is flowing. What more do you want from a college?

Eugene

A wonderful city in Oregon, home of the U of O ducks. a great college city with a great community. the grass is green, people are happy, and everyone is nice. this place is as close to heaven on earth as you can get. crime rate is low, girls are hot, air is clean, and fun is easy to come by. a dull day in eugene (aka paradise) is better than a great day in other cities.

Oregon Ducks

The best college football team in the pac-12 and one of the elite in Division 1... beating pathetic teams like Oregon State, Washington and USC. Causing teams to be green with envy and wish they had uniforms like the ducks and new stadiums... I LOVE MY DUCKS!!!!!

Person 1: Hey have you heard of the Oregon Ducks?
Person 2: Heck yea I hear they are amazing and have the best uniforms in college football. Oh and they cast a crazy big shadow over little Oregon State..
Person 3: Who is Oregon State? Is that peewee football??

Uncle Phil

A nickname give to Phil Knight, the founder of Nike and alumnus of the University of Oregon. Phil Knight has donated millions of dollars to University of Oregon Athletics, which has helped pay for state of the art facilities and an overall embarrassment of riches that any athletics program would love to have.. Consequently this has helped Oregon Duck sports (football in particular) become successful. Top-tier athletes are attracted to all of this great stuff. The fans are well-aware of Phil Knight's monetary contributions which have in turn brought success, and metaphorically he's like the uncle whose spoils his nieces/nephews with gifts, hence he's been called "Uncle Phil".

Beaver: "What the hell? How do you guys get all these bitchin' facilities? That's so unfair!!!"
Duck: "It's all courtesy of Uncle Phil. I hope you're looking forward to another beatdown at Autzen stadium where you can see all the new things Uncle Phil has bought for us."

Yell-O

When the university of Oregon ducks are on defense and the crowd at Autzen stadium starts yelling "O" and puts their hands in the air forming an O. This amount of noise(mostly from the student section) causes the team on offense to be unable to communicate resulting in an Oregon win.(Autzen stadium currently holds the record for the loudest stadium with decibel levels reaching up to 127 DB)

(Autzen big screen says: YELL O)
Offensive player: What was the play again?
Quarterback: What?
Offensive player: What?
Quarterback: I cant hear you, the crowd is yelling "O".
Offensive player: What?

Duck

A duck is a wholly wonderful creature. They also say "quack"

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
