New Year, New Me. Am I right?
This is a line we have all either heard or said every year at the beginning of the new year. We get this new found motivation to do better and be better! Well that's great and all but only if you actually stick to your resolution. Which, let's be real, not many of us do.
The most common new years resolution involves fitness. Wether is be working out more or losing those pounds you put on during the holidays. Don't worry I am right there with you on this one. Here are a few tips to stay motivated and actually achieve those goals this year.
1. Make A Realistic Goal
Setting goals is the main way to get the body you're looking for. However, those goals have to be realistic. For example, you're not going to lose 30 pounds in two weeks. It's just not possible. So set a goal that you think will work for you. I personally set a long term goal and smaller monthly goals that serve as milestones towards that ultimate goal.
2. Treat Yourself
What can be more motivating than a new pair of tennis shoes and a cute workout outfit? Nothing? Okay good were on the same page. Go buy whatever it is that you need to get you into the gym. Once you start you will start to feel yourself changing for the better and soon it will feel like your day is not complete until you have gone to the gym.
3. Lose The Soda And Grab A Water
You can workout everyday, three times a day, but if you are eating unhealthy or drinking your weight in soda it won't matter. Eating healthy, along with exercise, is the key to hitting your goals. Create a meal plan and stick to it! If you feel urges of wanting sweets like I do, hop on Pinterest and find recipes for healthy snacks. I personally like the green Granny Smith apples from the grocery store. But as many of you probably know, Pinterest is never ending and you are bound to find a ton of recipes!
4. Plan It Out
If you're like me and like to plan every little detail of your life then go buy a new planner and start writing! Hold yourself accountable for the days you plan to go the the gym and the meals you plan for the week. If you stick to it reward yourself with a "cheat day" once in a while. And if you don't stick to it go to the gym for an extra hours everyday that week. Do whatever works for you!
5. Stay Positive
It's not going to be easy, if it was everyone would do it. You have to keep positive and keep pushing to achieve your goals. If you want it, work for it. Don't let the people who quit their resolutions after five days tell you you can't do yours. Good luck!
And if you don't have a gym don't worry, there are a million ways to exercise in the comfort of your home and still get results!
