With the second semester picking up speed, it's so easy to get caught up with all of the stresses that life throws at us. With these six little steps, you can release your stress bit by bit throughout your day!
1. Exercise
Yes, it takes some time out of our days, but it is worth it. Whether your thing is an abs circuit in your dorm, a jog around your campus, or even swimming laps in the pool, find time to work out. This physical release of energy can do wonders for your mind.
2. Yoga
See if your campus offers yoga classes. If you can’t find a class nearby, try looking up tutorials online. There are plenty of free, online yoga instructors to use. Even 30 minutes of gentle yoga can bring your mind to a whole new level of peace.
3. Take nice long, hot showers
Allow yourself those extra five minutes in the shower to just stand under the hot water and decompress. Not only is it good for your skin and lungs, but it also pampers your mind.
4. If you look good, you feel good
I know some will disagree, but I find this to be undoubtedly true. When you haven’t showered, are in a lazy outfit, and your hair resembles a rats nest, odds are you aren’t feeling so hot. So clean your hair, throw on a little mascara and blush, and slip into an outfit that’s cute- but obviously still comfy.
5. Stay organized
Spend five minutes a day putting things in their place. Write your assignments down in some kind of a planner. Get these thoughts out of your head and onto paper so they won’t bog you down!
6. Smile
It’s kinda an old trick. If you force yourself and your muscles to smile, your mind can be tricked into being genuinely happy. So before you go out the door in the morning, force yourself to smile a few times in the mirror, then go out and let your happiness rub off on others!
