6 Hot Spots To Check Out In Door County, Wisconsin

I spent the last couple of days exploring Door County, Wisconsin with my best friend and her family. As this was my second time there, I thought I could share some of my favorite places with y'all, especially in case you are thinking of making the trip!

1. Beach People

There are quite a few little shops and boutiques that line the streets of the little towns within Door County. However, the one that stuck out to me the most was Beach People in a town called Ephraim. Beach People is your one stop shop for all things nautical and bohemian, which is heaven for me! The store has everything from Door County t-shirts (I have a few) to sea turtle lights! I definitely recommend stopping in if you are in the area!

2. Good Eggs

Looking for a new breakfast spot? Try Good Eggs! Good Eggs is located in Ephraim and specializes in breakfast burritos and smoothies. Though the line is always long, it is a testament to the quality of the food. The burritos are amazing and the smoothies (try the strawberry banana) are super refreshing on a hot summer day in beautiful Wisconsin. There are only 3 things on the menu: a basic burrito (spuds, cheese, & eggs), a standard wrap (spuds, meat, cheese, & eggs), and a deluxe wrap (veggies, spuds, eggs, meat, & cheese). Fresh ingredients are always used, which means there are always new options and combos to try out! Oh, and there is always free coffee, which is always a plus!

3. Kayaking

Being in Door County, you have many points of access to Lake Michigan. Therefore, water activities are a must! Kayaking is super fun, but also a great workout! Don't have kayaks of your own? No worries! You can rent kayaks from Bay Shore Outfitters with locations in Sturgeon Bay and Sister Bay. Plus, if you really enjoy them you can buy kayaks from them as well! So get out and enjoy the nice weather and scenic views that are a part of daily life in Door County!

4. Drive-In Theatre

Are you an avid movie goer looking for a new way to experience your next favorite film? Why not go to the drive-in? Skyway Drive-In Theatre is located in Fish Creek, WI and is quite an experience! It is your classic drive-in theatre with large screen, plenty of parking spots, and a snack shack for all your junk food needs. There is even a special radio station that you can play whilst watching the film for premium sound quality!

5. Bonfires, Bonfires, Bonfires

Bonfires and summer are always a good combination, and having one whilst admiring the gorgeous sunsets of Door County, even better! The steamy days turn into chilly nights and a bonfire is the perfect way to stay warm whilst roasting marshmallows, hot dogs, or simply burning scraps! Plus, it creates a great atmosphere for a photoshoot!

6. Swimming

After a long day of exploring, swimming in Lake Michigan is the perfect way to cool off! My favorite spot to swim is Bay View Resort. It has a dock to jump off of, as well as a floating pier in the middle of the swimming zone. As soon as you hit the water, you are instantly cooled off and refreshed! You have to be a member or guest of the resort to swim there, however there are several other free places available for all your water activities.

There is so much to see in the many little towns scattered around Door County, WI and everything that I have experienced so far has been wonderful! It doesn't matter what you go to first, just go! I find it the most fun when running around Door County with my best friend, Ashley, so grab a friend and explore! You are sure to have a fabulous time in the beautiful state of Wisconsin!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
