People always ask me what my favorite team is in sports, whether football, basketball or really any other sport. Sometimes I humor people and say that the Green Bay Packers, UConn Huskies and Washington Nationals are my absolute favorite teams. Yes they are some of my favorite teams, but all teams are my favorite teams. Sounds crazy, doesn't it?
Yeah, it's kind of crazy to like every team in sports. But, why not? For as long as I can remember I have been a sports fan through and through. I played multiple sports while I was young: flag football, soccer, baseball and basketball. I remember I wanted to be like Brett Favre and I would wear an old Baltimore Orioles baseball hat while I played T-ball. I'm an every-team sports fan and also a frequent bandwagon rider.
I'm that person avid fans hate. I will hop on every bandwagon you could possibly think of. When the Seattle Seahawks were going to the Super Bowl, you better believe that I went to buy a Seahawks shirt. I hopped on the Cam Newton wagon when they were doing well. Even after the Carolina Panthers lost, I wasn't mad that Peyton Manning and the Broncos won the Super Bowl. So why is everyone always up in arms when people like me join their team bandwagon?
Let me tell you something. I am a super fan. I'm a super fan of every sport, of every team, of every player. And it's not a bad thing. I know random facts about random sports teams and players. I can pick an athlete out of a crowd and easily name that person. That's why I hop on the fan-wagon. I couldn't make up my mind even if I tried as to what athlete I like the most or what team is the best because it differs every year, month, week.
While many call me out on being a bandwagon rider, I'm proud of this label. I find no hatred for any teams or players but only respect for how they play. So I conclude this short little rant with a sincere thank you to all those who have called me out on hopping on that bandwagon multiple times throughout the years. Thank you for just making my love for sports and my love for how each player, coach and team play stronger.
