There’s no hobbit walking around, and they’re more famous for their wings, not their hoagies. But you can see for yourself at Hobbit American Grill. Up here in Tallahassee, we college students call it Hobbit Hoagies. The Schwantes family founded Hobbit Hoagies in 1978. They wanted to give customers the opportunity to experience laughter, conversation, and feasting all at once. You can easily find yourself caught in a daze watching one of their many flat-screen TVs, or you can enjoy a good round of pool with a few friends and an a cold beer.

Sometimes you’re in a daze staring at the menu trying to figure out which of the 20 flavors of their award-winning wings you’ll like. Even the prices take into account college students' pockets. The 59-cent wings every Tuesday and Thursday make it even more exciting to feast at Hobbit Hoagies.

The service is quick if you’ve eaten a small snack before being seated. Sometimes it does feel like the waitress/waiter has forgotten about you, but really it’s just the food taking a while to be prepared. Now, you do have the liberty to seat yourself as soon as you walk in. That kind of makes you feel liberated.

So I received my food, hot of course. Even though it took me a while to choose my two flavors for the 10 wings, I ended up with mild and fiesta ranch. And of course I had to order a side of fries, which comes in handy when your wings are drenched in fiesta ranch. I was still waiting for my water refill, but the food ended up being superb! Just don’t mind me dying of thirst.

Lately I’ve been trying to avoid loud crowded restaurants, but I’ve been having no luck. With all the NCAA football games and NFL Game Day Sundays playing, you can imagine all the uproars and chants of angry and overly excited, drunken fans.

Obviously Hobbit Hoagies isn’t trying to be your simple American grill. What other American grill you know has live bands and a trivia factory night?
