In three days, Franklin Pierce School District returns to school for another 180 days of class. Although high school was a mess for me, there are wonders of things I wished I learned or wished I could still have. High school still feels like a dream to me, and I dearly will miss the days with a daily schedule and foundation under my nose.
High school is a dream; there are teachers that are constantly available and ready to help whenever you need and ask for it. These teachers did not become teachers for the pay, but to help students grow individually into a strong member of society. And they did one of their best jobs. I, for one, do miss high school. Not for the ridiculous dress code rules or the long lunch lines, but I miss high school for the teachers, the leadership, and the foundation.
Teachers have inspired me to work hard and stay committed to the things I love, and I love a lot of things. I love to sing and play my piccolo. I love to be part of assemblies -- not the speaking part, but the behind the scenes part. I love going to sporting events. I love being part of the sporting events. I love being part of teams. I love my busy schedule. I love reading. I love learning. And the list is endless. The teachers did this for me, though. They taught me to express my love and that love never went unnoticed.
High school made me who I am today, with the teachers pushing me on my bad days to help me prepare for a worse day. I learned to be a leader and help those around me. I will never forget the days when I lead the band, as drum major, in a song that was too long and almost set a foul for my school. Or the time I had a tote bag filled with granola bars for the swim girls that skipped a meal. I became a role model, a "mom", and a leader.
The foundation that helped me realize the importance of inspirational people and leadership led me to my dream to become one of these role models; to become a teacher and do for other students what my teachers did for me.
I dearly miss how easy high school is, and I dearly miss the amount of love and support I received everyday. High school is a place to learn about yourself and grow as a student. I learned so much throughout high school, and there never is a day that I won't miss from those four years.
