As summer fades away (much like our tan skin), fall is finally here. As the leaves change so do the trends, and everyone’s favorite “sweater weather” is finally in. The time has come to embrace the autumn season, because really, who doesn’t love fall?
1. Fall Fashion
Layers, layers, layers! Personally, I believe fall is all about creativity. Whether it's scarves, sweaters or a cute pair of boots, fall offers the "comfy-cute" look, where your collections of neutral colors are finally acceptable.
2. Time to Meet New People
Sure, spring showers bring May flowers, but September brings in an entire new class of students- thousands to be exact- and a chance to expand connections throughout campus. Whether you chose to create friendships through clubs or becoming a part of Greek life, colleges nationwide, especially Michigan State, offer the chance to meet up to thousand of people everyday- and with so many incoming students, fall is the perfect time to make new friends.
3. Pumpkin Flavored Everything
Forget the lines, Starbuck's fall drinks can restore any mood. Nothing beats taking a sip of that oh-so-good pumpkin spice latte on a crisp autumn day as you embark on that two-mile trek to class.
4. Hayrides
It seems as if every club, sorority or fraternity on campus has its own fall hayride. Besides the stress of finding a date, running around a cornfield with your best friends is one of the best parts of the fall season (even when you're huddled around a fire for warmth).
5. Perfect Walking Weather
Ah yes, the one plus to having a huge campus: walking in the fall. The cool breeze mixed with the leaves changing to vibrant colors is motivation in itself to get up and go to class (not to mention that walking is a perfect way to work off that late night Conrad's from the previous weekend).
6. Holiday Season
Forget about winter break, fall brings pumpkins, costume-parties, and most importantly, food. Besides the excitement of the home-cooked meal, Thanksgiving is also a great chance to reunite with old friends from home and spend time with your family.
7. Sales, Sales, Sales!
With much anticipation for Christmas, fall is the best time to shop. Obviously Black Friday offers deals upon deals, but you would be surprised by those premature fall sales, so get in there early!
8. Football Season
It's not all about attending the game. The atmosphere of East Lansing transforms overnight into miles of tailgating and green and white (oh, and don't forget we are #2 in the AP polls).
9. A Fresh New Start
Fall is the start to a new school year (and the only time you will be organized, so don't get used to it). The school year is whatever you make of it, and starting off on a good note can transform your semester from good to great.
