Well, another relationship has been ruined for Lane Kiffin, and this time it's not with a football team. The news has broken that Lane Kiffin is getting a divorce from his beautiful wife, Layla. While it is probably a sad time for the Kiffin family, Alabama fans aren't going to mind Kiffin having his entire focus on football.
Coaches, wives and players' girlfriends are certainly a center of interest in college football and behind Terry Saban, Layla Kiffin might have been the third most recognized woman in Alabama sports. This is amplified in the SEC where wives are often seen as first ladies of football, and without a wife, Kiffin might be seen differently than when he arrived in the deep South.
How can we forget how Brent Musberger could not stop complimenting Katherine on national television? Or maybe people didn't notice the five different shots of Nick on the field with his wife Terry after the national championship game? People always say the only boss of Nick Saban is his wife. So how is Kiffin going to handle the single life? He will handle it just fine. I'm sure all of the bars in downtown Tuscaloosa are going to have an open door policy for Lane on the weekends.
In all seriousness, Kiffin has three children and wants to still be a great father. In Tuscaloosa, Kiffin has found a place that appreciates him, and a great place to do his job and raise his kids.
Kiffin said in a statement to Fox Sports that he appreciates the privacy that was given to both he and his former wife while they worked out their divorce.
Alabama fans have worried about the Kiffin family leaving town ever since his recent success as the offensive coordinator. If this divorce keeps Kiffin happy in Tuscaloosa, Alabama fans could not be happier.
