Golden State Warriors starting Point Guard, Stephen Curry, is breaking barriers again, but he is not alone.
After the Golden State Warriors defeated the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday with a 92-86 victory, the Golden State Warriors winning record of 72-9 is now tied with the 1996 Chicago Bulls winning record 72-10. In order to break that record, the Warriors must defeat the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
Soon, Michael Jordan and his former Chicago Bulls teammates may have to pass down their reign as the best leading record in the NBA.
With the victory over the San Antonio Spurs, this has now put the Warriors on a new pedestal in the NBA. They have made new stereotypes, while breaking records with notable players. Although Stephen Curry is one of the main standouts currently, 2015 MVP Andre Iguodala have been changing the game of basketball since they made the playoffs in 2015.
Stephen Curry has averaged 29.9 points per game with half of those points being in the field. With Stephen Curry's ability to score at extremely long distances this gives the Warriors a advantage over other teams in the NBA when it comes to clinching the Finals spot for the Western Conference.
Although Andre Iguodala is not a big scorer on the team, he is key to preventing the opposing team from scoring where himself along with Draymond Green lead in rebounds for the team. These rebounds and extraordinary defense strategies have lead them to victory 72 times. The Warriors have been outstanding with their defense, also giving them an advantage over other Western Conference teams. Golden State is currently leading in their conference, with the San Antonio Spurs right behind them.
The real question is, can the Warriors defeat the Memphis Grizzlies?
The possibility is definitely high, however, the Grizzlies only lost to Golden State by one point last Saturday. Is Memphis ready for the rematch? Have they prepared for the Warriors stellar defense to have an outstanding victory over Golden State?
Find out this Wednesday on ESPN at 10:30 where the Warriors and the Grizzlies showdown in the regular season finale before the post season begins.
