"She always had that look of otherness, of eyes that see things much too far, and of thoughts that wander off the edge of the world"- Joanne Harris

In today's world you are held to a standard. You're supposed to grow up, go to school, get a job, get married, have kids and a life, all in that order. Society has painted a picture of how everyone, especially girls, should act. Girls should be polite, wear nice clothes, not go out to party, should be the ones to take care of the kids and house, should have a certain body type, and so much more. It is ridiculous the standards girls are expected to meet in today's world. But, for most people those standards are OK.

In today's world people are OK with settling because it's what society has taught us. Having a wondering soul is a blessing. You don't just see the world in black and white, you see it in the many colors it really is. You see the bad, but you also see the good. Having what they call a "gypsy soul" in today's world is hard. Every day you sit back and dream about all the places you could be and want to go. Having a gypsy soul in today's world is a beautiful thing.

No one should have to see the world in one way. No one should stay in one little town for the rest of their life being told what to do and how to do it. Everyday life is so boring when you know there is a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Traveling the world and seeing the beauty that God created is not a privilege that is offered your whole life. Many people will call this bad advice, but explore the world. Don't let anything hold you back. College will be there when you get back. That boy you have your sights on? There will be so many opportunities to meet someone along the way. Don't let the world hold you back from what your soul is longing for.

"She was never crazy, she just never let her heart settle in a cage. She was born wild, and sometimes we need people like her for its the horrors in her heart which cause the flames in ours. And she was always willing to burn for everything she has ever loved."- R.M. Drake.

Having a gypsy soul in a world of settlers is like being a worm in a room full of birds. Sometimes it can get overwhelming with the excitement of adventure, but the expectation of settling. Live life to the fullest and never let anyone tell you you can't. The world is a big, beautiful place right at your fingertips just waiting to be explored. Get out there, take a few chances, and explore the world. It will be your greatest decision.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
