Wild Heart; Gypsy Soul

Born to wander. Born to roam.

Wild Heart; Gypsy Soul
Delaney Hendrickson

There are people out there who are happy staying in the same place their whole lives and like to stay within their comfort zones; trust me there is nothing wrong with that at all. But there are also those who do not like to stay in the same place for too long, like to experience new things, are open to change, and love to jump way outside their comfort zones; and those people are like me, gypsy souls.

Not all those who wander are lost. There are some people in this world who simply do not know where they want to go in life nor know where they want to end up. They are wanderers; they have this urge to travel and explore the world. Going from one place to another to see the unknown and discover the world in a number of ways simply intrigues them and starts a fire within them. I consider these people to have a wild heart and a gypsy soul.

"You see someone who has a gypsy soul is a person in need of change or an adventure. A gypsy soul seeks for the next best thing in any situation. They can be very passionate and inspired by different ideas, attitudes and experiences. Their sense of identity isn't always sure of what they want out of life but they are determined to find it."

The way I see it, those of us who are seen as having a gypsy soul are not very hard to figure out. We like to travel, see and learn new things, meet new people, and find our place in this world. They say people with a gypsy soul are "afraid" of commitment, that is why we are the way we are. That is a negative to me. Just because we like to see new things and like to explore does not mean we are scared to settle down. In my opinion, we will settle once we find something worth settling for. Sure, gypsy souls have a wild heart. However, if most are like me, we care a lot and are passionate about what we have our hearts set on. Therefore, we are not "afraid" or "unable" to commit; it just takes us time. Let us explore and run free.

Having a gypsy soul means to me to leave and find yourself no matter how long it takes. Having the desire to travel must have more to do than with just wanting to see the world. Yes, seeing the world is a perk to this lifestyle but to me it means so much more. I believe when you have a gypsy soul you are unsure. Unsure of who you are, what you want, and where you want to go. I know for a fact I am unsure of all. However, there is nothing wrong with being unsure and not knowing where you are headed. The way I see it is if you do not know where you are going, the road will get you there. The journey leading up to the day you find yourself, where you are going, and what you want is the greatest path one can take. Throughout this journey you grow and see things you never thought you would, which is why gypsy souls have the desire to do so. In the end, it is good for you mind and souls as well as your life.

Like wildflowers; You must allow yourself to grow in all places people thought you never would. -E.V

I see myself as a gypsy soul. The reason I think that is because I am constantly up for adventure and want to travel the world. I do not want to stay in one place for too long, I want to not only discover the world but myself as well. Trust me, I want much more out of life such as a family and a career. I will settle down, but for now why not travel while I am young and able?

"I always considered myself a free spirit with a Gypsy soul. Surrendering gratefully to where ever life takes me."

I know God has his plan for me and honestly I believe He made me this way for a reason. I am also extremely thankful to be able to have a gypsy soul and wanting to find out all the unknowns of this world. The world is a beautiful place and full of opportunities that I hope to experience one day. However, I'll let this fire inside me continue to burn until I get to let my wild heart and gypsy soul free.

This gypsy heart just needs to wander. Wander to undiscovered mountains and caves that guard mysteries of this world. I will unturn every stone, I will walk every unpaved path, I will dive through the darkest seas. Just to discover the secrets that were only meant for me. -Chrissie Pinney

If you are reading this and think you have a gypsy soul, listen when I say this; set it free. Discover the world and all of its unknowns. Find yourself among all other things what the world has in store. You have this fire burning within to explore and wander, then go. Never hold back from what makes you happy. Take that gypsy soul of yours and run free. After all you were born to roam.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
